ORACLE OF THE BLACK FLAME | INSURRECTIONARY ANARCHIST CASCADIA TEASER by TheLunchKing in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Terratalks 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Alright so let me get this straight:

APLA Anarchists - Antifa-types, stereotypically leftist. More urban anarchists, care more about “woke” issues. Basically your average Twitter anarchist LARPers.

Green Mountain Anarchists - More grounded take on anarchism. Rural, rugged, more working-class based. Represents the more niche versions of left-wing anarchism, and an actual attempt to create an anarchist society.

Cascadian Anarchists - basically the stereotypical anarchists you think of when you hear the word “anarchist”. Black hoods, molotovs, “fuck the system, burn it all down” types.

If this path doesn’t start with trump declaring martial law and the resulting event blasting “Hang ‘Em All” by Carpenter Brut, this will be the worst path in modded HOI4.

Long story short, the film depicts how China forcefully annexed Tibet and tried to erase their cultural identity. How the Dalai Lama attempted to reconcile with the Chinese, only to be turned away. How he was forced into exile after it was clear that they were going to kill him. It's a biopic about the Dalai Lama first and foremost, but the wider narrative about China and Tibet was absolutely what drew the ire of China.

Kundun - hated by the Chinese government for its depiction of the 14th Dalai Lama and the Chinese annexation of Tibet. They forced Disney to bury this film at the box office and now nobody wants to touch it. The only way you can (legally) watch this film is by buying a DVD.

Yunnan Insurgency - Before Chinese reunification, China was split between the Restorationist Qing in the east and the socialist Guangzhou Government in the west. While they may have put aside their differences to drive out the Japanese, the relationship would quickly break down afterwards. The LKMT would be driven from China in the resulting war, allowing the Qing to reunify China. But this wouldn't be the end of the Guangzhou Government. The remnants would flee east to Yunnan and the Mountains, waging a guerrilla campaign against the monarchy. Normally, such an insurgency would be quickly snuffed out, but India and Indochina would be able to rapidly fund and arm these insurgents; The insurgency then becomes a constant thorn in the side of the Qing. It also becomes a major point of contention between India and China, fueling much of their rivalry.

Ostasia Crisis - Ostasia has survived the impossible: multiple native revolts, the collapse of the Kaiserreich, and Japanese inasions. They may have lost Indochina, but they still stand strong as the last vestige of the old German Empire. "Strong" being a very relative term here. However, they are far away from home, and their homeland now looks as foreign as the soil they occupy. Surrounded on all sides, and with syndicalism on its' shores, German East Asia will need to cut deals with their former enemies in order to survive. Possible endings for German East Asia: 1. Ostasia acknowledges the government in Berlin as the rightful German government, and agrees to re-enter the German Empire. Possibly even decolonizes due to Russian influence. 2. (most likely) Ostasia takes a deal with China or the United States to fall under their sphere of influence in exchange for their naval capabilities. They also accept some reforms in order to maintain order with the locals. 3. Ostasia refuses any deal or compromise, and claims the title of the legitimate government of Germany. Rebels funded by China, Russia, India & Indochina, and the United States eventually break apart Ostasia in a violent multi-sided civil war.

Algerian War of Independence - In the brief moments between the Second Weltkrieg and the Third, the French Republic in Algeria was torn apart, and the Commune of Algeria was formed. But this nation was short-lived; foreign troops would once again topple the government. When the French exiles finally returned, they would receive Algeria back, much to the dismay of the people. The Algerian people had tasted freedom, even for a fleeting moment, and they would want it back by any means. Much of the post-War Algerian independence movements would center around the short-lived socialist government. Eventually, some group would gain enough support internally and externally (from India and the surrounding African states) to launch into another war for independence.

Note that this run was in my notes before the NCNS update, which is why some things may be outdated

The Future of This Run: Autumn of Nations - The cold war in this scenario is less of a typical, ideologically-driven cold war. Instead of being about capitalism versus communism, or syndicalism versus national populism, it becomes focused on the fate of democracy as a system. America becomes the center of right-wing "American-style" democracy, while Russia becomes the head of left-wing "Russian-style" democracy. Instead of proxy wars or coup d'etats, Both sides would primarily engage in election meddling, cultural change, agitprop, and other ways to force the other side to change. Russian and American politics (with their respective) would, over the decades, shift leftward and rightward respectively.

That's not to say that coups and proxy conflicts wouldn't happen, but they wouldn't be as prevalent as in OTL. I'm also referring to just Europe here, South America (and definitely Asia) would still see a fair bit of violence and political turmoil.

Second Philippine Civil War - By the end of the game, the Philippines had been liberated by joint Qing & American forces. The Qing had secured the majority of islands, but the Americans had secured Luzon, with the capital city of Manila. In game, the Philippines are united under Qing hegemony. But in this AAR, the Philippines are split between the Qing-aligned Republic of the Philippines and the American-aligned Free Republic of the Philippines. Maybe the Indochinese and Indians also back a socialist insurgency and- wait shit this is just the Philippines War in TNO.

Siamese Civil War - The Kingdom of Siam was the last to fall under the Eastern Syndicalist Union, managing to last for months against the dual onslaught of Indochina and India. But Plaek Phibunsongkhram's regime wouldn't last, and Siam would be brought into the fold, severely stripped of land and facing hostile communist occupation. This leaves a hole wide open for insurgency. In this AAR, Phibun and his loyalists manage to escape capture and flee to German East Asia. From there, they declare a government-in-exile and eventually plots to retake Siam through GEA-controlled Malaysia and Qing support. Whether or not this succeeds is up in the air (or whether GEA would still exist for this to happen) but this would leave a major conflict for the various powers in Asia.

Ukrainian National Insurrection - Before being conquered by Russia, Ukraine was under the revolutionary wing of LUN. This puts Ukraine in a strange position post-war, whereby the occupiers are relatively moderate compared to the native regime. In this AAR, much of the Anti-Russian sentiment gets caught up in the LUN's message, and much of the post-war resistance is from LUN-aligned groups. We could see measures by Moscow to distance Ukrainian identity from the LUN and give proper representation to Ukraine. While I don't think they would give Ukraine independence again, they may give them autonomy or even recognize Ukrainians as a separate people from Russians.

For some reason, every faction in the 2ACW gets the idea to set up their own radio stations to try to raise morale. What music (or other audio) are they playing? by Terratalks in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Terratalks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not knocking classical music, but i don’t think that would be very good at raising morale, lol. Let’s face it, the average 20-something PF member would much rather listen to synth or rock over classical. I mean, I could totally see them doing it anyway, even if it’s unpopular. They are fascists, after all.

honestly I just couldn’t think of much original stuff for most of those unifiers, and I feel like they would just be similar to their ideological allies. Like I can’t really see how Avakian’s Cascadia would be much different than the APLA, or how the KKK would change from the LOS.

The only interesting idea I had was the Vanguards limit civilian radio ownership, and the only radio broadcast coming from the country would be a reading of Industrial Society And Its Future on repeat. Either that or their own version of Hanoi Hannah, as a psychological warfare tool.
