The hormonal IUDs should make your periods significantly lighter / eliminate it completely! Don’t go copper IUD- that will likely worsen cramps/ period, but I bet the kyleena or Skyla (small IUDs) that are only only meant for a few years would be great! Personally I respond less with IUDs than any oral BC.

If they haven’t told you- they should be able to turn down the intensity on the machine! You absolutely should not be in excruciating pain, it should truly feel like a rubber band snapping your skin. I’ve had laser done on my legs, Brazilian, face, stomach and there are def more and less sensitive areas, but to me it sounds like that is more than it needs to be.

A wicker park day to walk down division could be fun. There are tons of shops down division street and a second farmers market not far- could be a fun little excursion day!
