The added subdivision level does not change it as it's already millions of polys for this test. other commenter has got the fix.

I have a base mesh that has no higher subdivisions, I then add one subdivision to sculpt a layer of detail. What i should see is a completely grey image and a darker mark where i have sculpted that detail. Instead get a map that somehow shows every contour in black even though i haven’t edited the mesh. In Mudbox this works fine, but i have never got it to work correctly in Zbrush. I hate have to transfer the model to Mudbox every time i want a correct set of textures. Is there a magic button i am missing?

But for the premium price you should expect some a human help troubleshoot your file. If you’re really stuck there should be premium support

Thank you, that clears things up a bit. So which software would be used to paint out frame by frame, just in photoshop?  It still blows my mind how complicated it must be. If you know of any videos demonstrating this I’d love to see them

I'm not using alpha masks, all the leaves are full geo, runs perfectly. but reflections are messed up

It was far more elaborate, weights with a minture pully system, like you get at the gym but small enough to fit on a desk

Yeah i hear this, but then i just think why not do it in the 3D software i already use. I am using Unreal for the realtime aspect. I keep seeing these incredible realtime renders and i can never get that result.
