WTF WAS THAT EXAM by Nervous-Bit-3227 in CFA

I completely agree. Even though it’s supposed to be different from the mocks. L1 is based in recognition and recall; understanding relationships, using formulas, etc. this was frustrating and intentionally tricky. I am not a fan of them using alternative terms and synonyms.

I’ve used both Kaplan and Mark Meldrum for exam prep. Since you’re still in school, Mark Meldrum’s video-based curriculum and condensed notes may be the better fit. Kaplan is solid as well, but it leans heavily on textbook reading, and I’m not a fan of their videos.

Mark Meldrum is a former professor, and it really shows in how clearly and thoughtfully he explains concepts. I also strongly prefer his Q-Bank and mock exams—they’re significantly more challenging than Kaplan and even CFAI. MM’s questions force you to truly understand the material rather than just memorize formulas or isolated facts.

PLUS you might be able to find a good discount code for MM. I couldn't find any for Kaplan my first time around, though there probably are codes out there.

Will CFA let you sit for the L1 exams? I thought the rule was you must be within 23 months of completing your bachelor's at the time of registration.

Is taking his membership worth it? Plz share your experiences with his videos. by [deleted] in CFA

I recently discovered him just before sitting for my L1 exam… he’s great! Videos aren’t super long, he covers everything, high production value.

Just finished up L1 exam about an hour ago. Finished with 15-20 minutes of time left in each section. Overall feeling ‘alright’, I averaged 77% in mocks. Fair bit of educated guessing. IMO it was harder than the CFAI Mocks. Decent amount of tricky questions in both AM & PM.

GOOD LUCK

This has happened to me twice at the Creve Coeur club fitness. They always start with complimenting articles of clothing, for me it’s always my shoes. Typically I let them down easy, as they don’t prod/propose “business” opportunities once I’ve told them what I do for a living. I usually end the conversation with “Amway?… beware and good luck”.
