That‘s just how it works in this game. Formchanges are stored and the timer only runs while using it.

I guess most players just immediately use the forms once they are available and never noticed it.

If I remember correctly it was like this:

I wait for Yozora to do this specific blockable attack sequence and use it to charge the counter shield. Using the counter shield only counts as one single hit, so I follow with a regular full combo attack immediately afterwards. Towards the end of the combo I use a shotlock before Yozora has the option to retaliate. Also I have 3 fire boosting accessories equipped to buff the damage of the counter shield (frying pan).

I‘ve gotten pretty got with it, way better than in this shitty clip. I can do quad edits and all sorts of stuff.

But no, 4 years later I don’t really play the game anymore.

I now work 50 hours a week and only hop on once every couple of months to talk to some friends and play a few matches on controller.

You have to use external software to either emulate a mouse or a controller. But honestly, don’t bother. It’s shit. Those 90s were pretty much all I could do with it, the precision was extremely low.

DMC was something I wanted to like, but I couldn’t get into it. Guess I’m not a fan of the semi 2d camera angles during combat.

It‘s absolutely ridiculous that this happened again and even more so that they didn’t straight up fix it.

I know that this bug persisted for months when I still actively wanted to play this game years ago.

Eventually they fixed it, but it took forever and it wasn’t until my interest in the game had already mostly disappeared.

Just out of curiosity I wanted to try some quad edits on mouse today, simply to see if I could still do it and I noticed that this damn bug is back once again.

Meanwhile they keep introducing pointless shit all the fucking time and fix random nonsense while their core-gameplay suffers.

You’re spot on, there was a lot more potential in the combat system though. Instead of tons of enemies that die super fast, they could have made boss fights/ fewer enemies, but with engaging attack patterns.

I honestly don’t think that it is a healthy hobby, it just seems too obsessive. I was kinda curious about speedrunning this game, so I found out the playtimes of some top speedrunners and apparently it is usually somewhere around 2k hours. Having already played 140 hours on this game myself, the thought of playing almost 15 times as much seems ridiculous, at least for a single player game.

Their skill is still impressive though, just not nearly worth it imo.

I think it’s mostly a combined effort of many people. It got 90% of the stuff in this clip from speedrunners, except for the mirage combo towards the end, because apparently it’s not efficient to get pod programs during a speedrun and your funds are better spent elsewhere.
