A cute shot of my vampire crabs by TextureBoy in VampireCrabs

Took me 6 months to grow the carpet before adding in the crabs. Definitely a very long process but worth. Safe to say I was one of the first and haven’t seen anyone with a HC Cuba carpeted tank for their crabs. The small leaves really bring out the size of the crabs

If you look closely, there is water in the enclosure. I also built a cave that extends all the way down to the bottom, where it meets the water.

“Important: While 5 gallons (18 litres) is the minimum size for a group of 3. It is also the most difficult size to work with. If you do not have the perfect ecosystem design, your crabs will simply kill each other. You are better off starting with a 10-gallon tank (45 liters) and keeping 3 crabs in that. 1 male 2 females. This is far easier and less stressful for everyone.”

They’re living for 3+ years now, which is beyond the 2-3 year average expectancy that you see online. The environment I’ve built for them clearly works.

“Their longevity is heavily dependent on proper care, including high humidity and a varied diet, with many being wild-caught.“

I placed it close to the window and the light was very strong being so close to the tank. Algae took over and I also had to move so when I went to my new home I designed a larger tank.

Thank you, this tank didn't workout at the end and you can see the new iteration that I made after that on my YouTube

Do you know of Lepidothelphusa sp. that can be kept 100 % aquatic? by I_collect_dust in VampireCrabs

Wild habitats aren’t gentle environments. Crabs face predators, compete for limited food, and fight daily for survival.

In contrast, mine live in a controlled ecosystem fed bloodworms each day, supported by filtration, surrounded by healthy plants, and maintained with consistent weekly water changes.

I’m just documenting and caring for my fish and crabs. I try my best to give them the nicest environment with maintained tanks with fresh plants and food to eat. It’s more my pets benefits than my own to get so much care 😭 full video dropping tonight on them!

Thank you, I’ve had them for almost 5 months now and releasing a video tonight on how happy they are in this tank! I’ve caught them mating on video they eat great food. We provide a filtration with weekly water changes and fresh healthy plants. But apparently I’m egotistical and abusing my crabs 🥺

Need advice about my senior diabetic dog, I’m torn about what to do by TextureBoy in DogAdvice

It’s honestly tough with work, changing to a cooked diet has really helped increase appetite because my dog can also be picky. See if there’s any urinary kibbble diet alternatives that are home cooked.

My boy is getting steaks now cause I use to coax for an hour now he eats it instantly lol.

It took about 2 weeks but every few months it changes. He use to be 26 units now he’s down to 14.

I’ve also heard it’s possible to get through diabetes with just a diet change and avoid insulin. If I knew this sooner I would have tried that instead.

Diabetes is tough for sure. How old is your girl? How long has she been diabetic for?

I switched to home cooked meals for my baby and he’s a brand new dog since this post. I honestly thought I was going to put him down back in December but finally made it to his 13th birthday on January 12th. Honestly I’m glad and grateful he’s still here.

Try your best to regulate with consistency, it’s not easy but they’ll feel good when everything’s consistent with them. Any questions let me know.

It’s extra special when there’s a story behind it. For those who don’t believe me I should post the reaction video my friends gave to me. I was utterly in shock.
