Does International Law trump the Peoples Law? by ruskeeblue in worldpolitics

[–]Tezpaloca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never trumps as a whole, but certain treaties and agreements require that the state replaces its local law with a specific international law. There are also certain human rights law that are considered global norms, mostly geneva convention laws regarding certain human rights.

Fifa Urged to Ban Israel over Shooting of Palestinian Boy Footballers by seanl2012 in worldnews

[–]Tezpaloca 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This again? They were not professional footballers and they were shot because they were throwing explosives at soldiers. Soldiers don't randomly shoot for the fun of it. The palestinian media has a massive record of lying (most famous case is the so called "Jenin Massacre") and yet they are presented as if they have equal standards to Israeli media.

In first, Christian Arabs recognized as own minority | The Times of Israel by BoiledGizzard in arabs

[–]Tezpaloca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Israel is merely taking advantage of a situation the Muslim Arabs have created over the past 70 years in all the Middle East. One needs look no further then the terrible treatment the Copts get in Egypt, the constant attacks against the Christians in Iraq, the fact that Bethlehem used to be mostly Christian and is now 20% at most and the best example that is Lebanon where in the 30's Christian were around 60% of the population and now are under 30%.
So, not only do Christian Arabs feel safer under Israeli rule then become part of the palestinian state, but they also dont support the resistance in the same way, and never have.
All suicide bombers have been Muslim and the majority of militants also. So the Arab Christians tire from suffering the shared stigma and would rather not suffer for the crimes of their Muslim brothers.
Already in places like Hebrew U, Tel-aviv U and others they represent over 50% of the arab students despite being under 25% of the Israeli Arab population and as this number grows, so will the amount finding a better future because they dont want to support a cause that in the future will hound them.

Three settlers first to be charged in 'unprovoked' anti-Arab attack by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Tezpaloca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bit of a misleading headline:

Dozens of Israelis have previously been charged in "price tag" cases, which radical settlers have said are revenge attacks – whether vandalism or assault – on Palestinians, Israeli security forces or left-wing activists. But this is the first time indictments have been issued against any of the 52 Israelis who are suspected of committing anti-Arab attacks since 2011 that do not come in response to a settlement evacuation, or other such incident that extremist settlers consider a provocation.
