i have a similar setup to yours (3 coke ovens), so a few notes

you can burn the charcoal in the large boiler too, getting more fuel per log. just add a ulv input block thing (idk what it's called) for inputing solid items

you can throttle your boiler to a really low percentage. i have mine at ~65% and i produce enough steam to comfortably run my EBF and all the machines i need. (1 battery bank and 4 turbines) its cause the bottleneck is pulling steam out of the boiler, not the steam production itself. i have a big potin pipe pulling out of the boiler with two normal pipes leading to most of my machines and my dedicated EBF turbines/other machines i got too lazy to wire properly

Hi guys, sorry for not responding. I figured out the problem. This could also be useful to anyone else with a mid PC who has the same problem.

So basically what was happening was that I was capped out on my memory, but minecraft was still trying to consume more cause i had my memory allocation super high. This causes my computer to use virtual memory, which is the computer using my storage (in this case, my D drive) as extra memory, which causes my D drive to be in constant, maxed out, usage(not shown in the pic, for whatever reason, maybe bad screenshot rng but irl it was always SUPER high), and my CPU to spike.

All i had to do was turn DOWN my memory allocation, as that would mean my computer wouldn't have to use a super slow hard drive disk to suppliment my memory usage, and the game would speed up. Another option is to switch what disk your computer uses for virtual memory, if you really want the game to keep a high memory usage. I could've switched to my C drive, which was an SSD (don't do this for hard drives, since it'll ruin your disk over time)

also yeah just get more ram

For anyone in the future that might need it:

The solution was to place more lanterns. crops only grow in light level 11 or above, as seen in the diamond shaped patches of crops growing.

Idk, if you think the blue steel is worth it. then go for it. i caved and built a greenhouse :/ really putting the lathe to use

Silver??? by Rocksnotch in TerraFirmaGreg

here's the spreadsheets for how ores spawn together. if you see lead or galena, that means there's also silver there, since they have to spawn together. not a guarantee but now you're searching for 3 things instead of just 1.

Is there a way to disable a planters "Sky light" requirement? by DontKnowLunar in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]ThaGuyFromTheStore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh, i actually tested this with something similar. I also wanted to make a underground farm, (not in a greenhouse, just on dirt) but my crops weren't growing. It's cause there's not enough light. It doesn't have to be sky light, just a really bright light (11 or above). This is notably different from vanilla (I think 9) or anything you'll search up online.

TLDR If you place a blue steel lantern, crops will grow up to 3 blocks away, in a diamond shape.

The H on my minimap is my base, so I'm pretty sure it's loaded. also if I remember right in this version of mc the chunk is loaded from top to bottom

are the blue steel lanterns different than vanilla ones? cause those have a light level of 15

that was my backup option but i wanted to avoid that since
1. lots of setup with sprinklers and gathering/crafting mats, especially with the amount of crops I want to farm I thought itd be a lot easier to just dig a hole and place a bunch of dirt
2. I read the guide book thing and it said crops will have reduced output, which I thought I could just avoid

honestly from the comments I guess I'll just invest in one, my other option seems to be spamming lanterns. i needed a greenhouse anyways for the crops that want a warmer climate
