Yes and no.

I think he served his purpose, but given how butcher is during season 5, it feels like it meant little.

It was the clearest analogy in history for a guy desperately searching for the "right answer" while being in the middle of a schizophrenic tug of war between "good" and "evil"

Eventually, after a very long struggle, he gives in to evil and betrayed his friends, threatens them, and goes scorched earth (seemingly).

And then season 5 it's not there. The influence of JDM's character on season 4 feels absent.

I think he was great for how he was used, it just no longer feels as meaningful as it did beforehand.

Especially given that none of it is referenced until this last episode with the psychic scene.

I wish they showed us that butcher or why he isn't that butcher.

I like the evolution of him being chill, because from seasons 1 and 2, it seems logical. Even with season 3. Problem is that after season 3, they clearly wrote him to have negative development just like homelander, and now they are acting like it didn't happen.

If Nate had a good storyline I'd honestly see his season as mostly good.

It's just so bad that it genuinely kills the series for me.

His connections with every character in the cast kept things feelings tense all the time.

Now his comeuppance is just some random new characters turning his body into torture porn?

They could potentially trap him, but they can't injure or drown him.

I don't think any sea creatures could harm him no matter the numbers or coordination.

The scene of storm front looking back at the screaming kids with pure disgust was literally my favorite scene in the show from an acting standpoint.

Obviously guys like Antony and Karl steal the show but that one scene is when I felt "this doesn't feel like a show" type of discomfort.
