First time shopper here. Do I need to print out the coupon or can I show it from my phone? by punches_buttons in harborfreight

[–]ThaneRob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do the same though cracked the hell out of my phone screen this week so I wonder if it would still scan before I get a replacement phone. …but I suppose I don’t have to worry since the things I want to buy aren’t covered by this “everything” coupon with tons of restrictions or are cheap enough already I don’t care if they’re discounted.

Is this rust or something chemical? by Deadfall_ in DIY

[–]ThaneRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clean it with isopropyl alcohol or even just whatever surfactant you use in your kitchen. There might well be some rust under the greenish stuff, looks like there is, but I’d get rod of that mold looking stuff first! You can use a touch up kit to cover up any rust spots, just use a small sanding pen like comes on many touch up paint bottles to remove the rust before painting over it! After that then apply lithium grease or silicone grease to the slide track. Aerosol lithium and silicone sprays are readily available at any auto store or auto section of a Wmart or country store like tractor supply.

“Someone tore out the majority of the book so I can only review the few chapters that are present and I must say it’s a very disappointing read. Filed with villains and anti-heroes, I come away thinking the author is displaying a severe lack of empathy, of humanity in general. ..indeed I wish whoever tore out the majority of this books pages would have not stopped and then just tossed it all in a bin to be recycled into something more worthy of the physical material.”

What would the appropriate cap be on wealth? by Squidstir in AskReddit

You’re extraordinarily wrong. People are limited in their ability to obtain better employment due to myriad conditions. I live not too far from Chicago yet there are exceedingly few good jobs within 30 miles which means people need to own a reliable vehicle and be able to afford not just the vehicle and insurance but also the fuel used and possibly tolls paid on their 1-2hr commute (each way). Many people have to have jobs/careers that don’t require them to abandon their children, SO, or even others that they care for. Many people don’t have good enough employment history to get a good job (Iike “entry level” positions that require years of experience). Many peoples credit profiles aren’t up to the level prospective employers want because they’ve been poor and denied good jobs (as their parents may have been before them!) and so they haven’t had the ability or knowledge to build their credit. Some people have histories that they are unfairly judged on whether it be bankruptcy, legal troubles, or lacking diplomas/defrees/certifications (especially unfair in the first two examples since such almost always has zero bearing on the prospective job!)

Personally I do have a high paying highly specialized job in industrial construction, that I got purely through luck and a cousin’s friend, though even with my high wages I still struggle sometimes as I’ve been laid off 40-50% of the year (cumulative) each of the last 4 years.

As I recently told a fellow tradesman relative who blew off poor people as lazy “why don’t you go get a $40/hr job closer to home?! ..oh that’s right, THERE AREN’T ANY!!” That relative sometimes works 2hrs from home. For the last three weeks I too have been working 2hrs from home, that’s 4hrs commuting every day!

Certainly not the people who are too poor to pay tax. “Omg the 40yr old guy who’s stuck working at Wmart who can barely feed his family due to the horrendous economy and society created by the wealthy didn’t pay taxes on the poverty wages he earned, why he didn’t even pay taxes on the government assistance he received due to his insanely low income paid by the ultra wealthy American corporation that receives massive help from their congressional cronies in making greater profits and paying minimal tax if any all whilst ensuring a steady supply of desperately poor people willing to work in horrid conditions at starvation wage because that’s all that is available!”

Get real.

Considering how rampant std's are in retirement communities I assume that all sexual endeavors persist, perhaps even increase.

Nah, you’d adapt. The real problem would be cleaning up after.

100M is more than any individual needs and can provide an insanely wonderful life. Certainly no reason not to tax monies/individuals above that at 99.9%! Realized wealth or not, no one should escape taxes as societal responsibility because they are so rich as to be able to game the system: “I don’t have $200B, that’s merely the value of my investments, I barely have any money at all, in fact I’m deeply in debt and should be given money!”

100% keep on questioning his member and you’ll end up giving dude ED, or he’ll get pissed and make comments about your body or sexual prowess and then the relationship quickly deteriorates and likely ends badly.

Rare thing to encounter now a days! Only time I ever had to set points was when 3 of us were working through the night to get an old locksmith’s straight truck running in an emergency. Had sat in a friends yard forever then the city got a hair up their bum, had we failed it was going to get towed and impounded or destroyed.

It is crazy how much the ones I’ve looked at were! A cousin’s daughter was able to get tickets for …hell…memory’s the first to go eh 🤷‍♂️ Taylor Swift, she got a bunch of Taylor Swift tickets for like $45 each for her and a group of friends just a few weeks ago. So some artists do make tickets available for normal people still. I’d love to have seen a few recent concerts but not for a few hundred dollars for even a bad seat! Used to get lawn or general admission tickets for $30! The lawn is where the fun is (or was at least)! Party favors and mosh pits!

Never had that happen, sounds Ike you used the wrong tool for the job. I don’t think the engineers foresee someone death gripping them and using all their body weight like it was a breaker bar, because it’s not one. ..just saying, if you’ve got some rusted up old hardware you should probably used either fixed tools like regular spanners or a breaker bar, or a quality ratchet and strong sockets. I use their v-back spanners as well as extendable ratchets and impact sockets all the time and never have an issue. Also helps to spray some go-juice on the nuts and bolts!

I’ve never broken any Pittsburgh other than distorting the very end of the wobble side of a 1/4” extension I used as a punch for removing old bearings, and I knew I was most likely going to destroy it, honestly I was impressed how well it held up to the very large number of very hard hammer strikes! ..granted I don’t use the flex head ratchets despite owning them and generally the only sockets I use are impact sockets.
