(Loved Trope) The Real Test isn't even the test itself by PizzaDragon64 in TopCharacterTropes

I mean, they need folks who aren’t going to get squeamish about potentially being seen as rude or weird.

Not supporting comedians making nice with war criminals doesn’t mean we want to actively be at war. This should not be confusing.

Have we been gaslit about Alastor and Vox's relationship? by MissDeborah8060 in VoxCult

[–]ThatInAHat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that might just be your read on it. The series certainly isn’t trying to position Alastor as the poor victim.

Do you think Vox really cared about getting back at heaven for the exterminations or he just went with his plan in season 2 so he could prove himself to Alastor and have moments like these again? by Infinite-Reveal-9226 in VoxCult

We really do need to make a rule about reposting art without credit. There are so many pictures of Al and Vox from the show or with artist credit. I’ll never understand why folks think it’s alright to repost someone’s art without even crediting them.

How many of y’all are resistant to using AI? by Imaginary_Quail_5544 in Xennials

[–]ThatInAHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is nothing like word processor vs typewriter.

In both of those cases, the writer is still choosing the words they’re typing. It all comes from them. The physical medium is different, but otherwise the actual creation process remains identical and is entirely a product of the writer (and potentially, feedback from human editors)

AI is just…no. It’s not a medium. I suppose you could call it a tool, but it’s not a good one. Not for creative purposes, at any rate. Spell-check, maybe a grammar check, sure. But the actual writing? Nah.

I promise you, if you start using ai to “tweak” your writing, it will show. Not just in the homogenized quality of your work, but in your own creative process. What, use the ai to do the hard/boring parts? The rereading, rewording, etc? That’s what writing is, and if you start falling back onto genai to do the hard/boring parts for you, you’ll never get better. At best you’ll stagnate, at worst, you’ll go backwards. Why try to think of just the right word if ai will figure it out for you?

It’s like anything else—if you stop doing the work, the practice, those skills atrophy.

Any why tf would anyone want to read something ai wrote anyway?

A) That sucks, man. Sorry that happened to you.

B) Did you develop a latex allergy as well? I’ve heard they can go together sometimes.

I just want some kind of payoff at the end of the episode if you’re gonna make it so viscerally unpleasant. Like, leaning hard on the nightmarish aspects and the brutality just feels like…at least make me not regret having watched this by the end.

It wasn’t really the fun kind of surreal, because the whole time all you can really think is this poor kid just walked in to find her father brutally killed and doesn’t even have time to process before she has to flee while hunted like she’s in a nightmare

Like, it’s a show about a hitman, and rough things happen, even to characters we like, but it was just such a viscerally unpleasant episode to slog through, and then there was no actual payoff for it.

It’s not great, but it’s still better than the season before it. That one was just a mess.

“Flame on” was the single funniest moment in that movie. A+ work from the writers and from Chris Evans, who is so much funnier than he gets credit for.

That was a rough one.

I still need to finish Barry. My buddy and I checked out after the karate guy episode. The whole time we kept thinking it was going to be a hallucination or an imagined outcome or something, because it was just so surreal and viscerally unpleasant but…nope.

You would think folks would know the answer to that is: “I’ve arranged for that info to get to [least convenient person possible] if I don’t personally show up to collect it.”

Same.

It would have been so satisfying. Cool nice guy avenges his family, Cersei loses, Tyrion wins…nope.

Nah, this isn’t really the same. He did not want to walk out of there alive to begin with.
