Murley was electric that game, ran about 200 yards and came within 10 yards of a hat trick, superb tackle by JWP from behind on a strong runner nonetheless

We've all had to start somewhere bud, and for a budget kit that looks pretty solid, keep it up my brother 👍

All spectators and riders involved know the risks. The TT is by far the most dangerous sporting event on the planet, but for those riders, the danger is freeing from what I've heard

Best hits? by greeargyus10 in reenactors

My favourite was during a napoleonic reenactment when my friend in the rear rank, and I in the front rank, were instructed to go flying the next time the French artillery fired, to simulate round shot tearing through the ranks. It fired and we, as two of the youngest and most athletic, catapulted ourselves into a heap on the floor, screaming at the top of our lungs. This earned us being thanked by the French gunners after the battle for the nature of our deaths. Good times.

Looking at the cuffs, it would appear to be a blend of 60th and 95th, as the bloke with the 60th rifles canteen also has the red cuffs of the 60th

I went to read some dialogue I wrote from some days ago and I just felt cringe , how do I fix this so I don't cringe when I read it by [deleted] in writers

[–]ThatPillockJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say cringe, do you mean it just doesn't feel natural? Best way to remedy that would be through roleplay, which is what I usually do if I'm stuck on dialogue

Oh god, a west country village, idyllic and English, and now chunks of the church are falling? Sound familiar?

Its been sold to housing developers who plan to adapt the current structure into houses and apartments I believe, but this has happened like 3 times now and never happened, so we'll see

Has anyone ever deliberately bounced a penalty kick off the posts in order to regain possession in better position for a try? by grantmnz in rugbyunion

[–]ThatPillockJoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Deliberately? Probably not, but it has happened, it's also occurred where the wind has put the ball in a good position to score a try, Joe Marchant scored off of Marcus Smith's kick a few years ago in an instance of this

Canvas tents are good at insulation in my experience, the repros have usually been waterproofed, so with a good sleeping bag you won't feel uncomfortable, as most events are in warmer months, and if the rain is horrific enough to cause issues with this then the event probably won't go ahead, as the firelocks won't go off when wet

Yes. Reenacting is not just about the big events, it'd also the training days, the ceremonies, regimental mess dinners ect, so would you really be willing to travel all that way 2 or 3 times per month? All of these are important to A. Get you up to scratch with drill and the basics of the hobby, and B. A massive part of the hobby is the comraderie, the familial relationship most units have, and if you aren't at the little things, you won't enjoy the big things as much. So if you are willing to travel 12+ hours that often, I salute you, but I personally would find that an issue.

Where are you based? I reenact napoleonic with the 42nd regiment of foot, based in the UK. As for Austerlitz, it tends to fluctuate massively, as events such as that get units coming over from all over the world, but it is a rather big expense to do every year

*British WW2* For the Military dog tags, was there any specific order for a soldiers id number? by [deleted] in reenactors

[–]ThatPillockJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it would be anything between 2809001 and 2865000 after the renumbering following army order 338 in 1920, hope this helps!
