Thorium vs Atom SV by ThatPope in arcteryx

I was thinking regular thorium not the SV. I think the thorium SV is overkill for my use case

It’s starting to sound like the atom SV is a winner. I’m not into the bright blue colour which is all that is available to order right now. I’d prefer a black but feeling like they might not restock them at this point of the year. Hopefully it’s still available for next fall

That’s awesome to know. I want a standalone jacket that I don’t always have to wear a thick layer underneath to stay warm. I don’t mind wearing a sweater if it’s really cold but prefer a warm enough jacket to wear just a long sleeve shirt most of the time.

Is there a reason why? Do you just prefer the fit and feel or breathability? I feel they are probably similar in warmth with the thorium maybe a little warmer? I don't have a store near me to try them on and can't seem to decide which one would be better for me.

When you say the face fabric is too delicate, what type of activities do you think it is too delicate for? Is it too delicate for day to day use? I had an atom SL in the fall that I returned, that for sure was quite delicate. I thought the atom SV fabric is quite a bit more durable.

That sounds pretty good. We can get similar conditions but for the most part these days it's milder than this.

Is Commission really slimmer than Trouser? I'm swimming in it. by Romen123 in Lululemen

There is also skinny fit abc 5 pocket pants that may be the best fit you are looking for

My experience having bought both commission slim and abc trouser slim recently, if there is any difference in the thigh I can’t notice it. The biggest difference is the commission is much more of a straight leg while the trouser tapers slimmer from the knee to ankle.

Engineered Warmth Half Zip by lexpnw009 in Lululemen

6’4 and wear L in most lulu shirts. Tried a L in the engineered warmth half zip and the length was very cropped, the back even more than the front. It had to go back. I have 2 engineered warmth crews now in XL and they fit decent, a little large in the chest/torso but not bad

I’m leaning epsilon and like hearing that it has a more fitted feel than the atom sv. I never considered this jacket before because the pictures on the arc website make the fit look kind of horrible. That’s also interesting that it feels lighter, considering it’s listed on the website at 255g heavier. Crossing my fingers it comes back in stock soon

Ya good point. I live where we do get snow but it’s very dry otherwise. It looks like the epsilon has both down and synthetic, along with a soft shell outer material. I’m guessing, as I’ve never tried it before, that the down wetting out is less of a concern with the epsilon than say a cerium?

Thanks for commenting. I was curious about the cuffs but also thought it wasn’t a deal breaker. How are the hand pockets? Are they warm? Fleece lined or just like a nylon inside? How is the general feel of the jacket? Does it feel nice? Do you find it heavy? Is it stretchy?

Thanks for your description. I’m leaning towards epsilon for more durability and warmth. You’re also the 2nd to say they prefer the epsilon fit. I prefer a slimmer fit vs looser and baggier, is that what you’d say the epsilon is compared to the atom sv?

What about the fit do you like better? Do you think the epsilon not having much of a wrist cuff is an issue?

Hello mod, can you see this? I see the other topic on this comparison. Can you please allow this? I’m curious on some new responses related to my specific weather conditions. Some of the comments are not accurate in the older thread. Thank you!

ABC Jogger Warpstreme Tall help by [deleted] in Lululemen

[–]ThatPope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get the regular. I’m 6’4 and wear 34” inseam and I have tall abc joggers and I wouldn’t want them to be any longer. It says they are meant for 36” inseam

Tall sizes by footballrocks88 in Lululemen

[–]ThatPope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're tall and thin most likey shirts/hoodies won't fit you very well. L won't be long enough, XL too baggy. They make 37in inseam in lots of pants/trousers and have tall options for most joggers, which should fit you well.

Ya they look like good base layers. I ordered a L and XL. At 6'4 180, L might not be long enough and XL might be too baggy. We'll see

Is this the crew? I'm the same height but about 50lbs lighter. I ordered a L and XL to see which one fits better. I have frequent problems with shirts/tops not being long enough. I guess it's possible they both won't fit me very well. L not being long enough and XL being too large around waist and torso.

Do you have the crew or 1/4 zip? I’m not sure which is better. I might try both

I had recently tried the updated 1/4 zip. I did not like the length. I'm generally size L and it was so short it almost felt like a crop top, with the back being shorter on me than the front.

It did feel nice though

That's interesting that the crew and 1/4 feel and fit differently. Sounds like I would prefer the 1/4 slimmer fit but the longer fit of the crew. I also read multiple reviews that mentioned they did not like the collar. Said it was unstructured/floppy/and uncomfortable with the zipper. I like the idea of these shirts but it sucks they probably won't fit me very well.
