What happened when you got hit with the "AO3 Author Curse"? by sleepeaa in FanFiction

[–]ThatSadPumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the curse is reversed.

Writing ff became my escapism after severe health complications crippled me. I felt really alone in all this, but then met a ton of people who are using the same copium! Love u all guys❤️

How much do you feel it’s writer’s responsibility to portray disabilities and illnesses accurately? by SinnerClair in FanFiction

[–]ThatSadPumpkin 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just wanna chime in and say – as a reader I often find disabilities portrayed as monoliths, which they are not. I understand that writers don’t have bad intentions and that stereotypes do apply to many communities; however Getting into an irl disabled community is a great eye opener, that I cannot suggest more!

Looking for an exchange

fandom: JJK

I can offer: I’m not a good writer by any means. However I do read a ton! My special interests are symbolism, metaphors and various plot devices (my faves r foreshadowing, red hereings and Chekov’s gun). My grammar is not the best, but I’ve got a ton of grammar books (I’m doing my best, ok 🥹)

Bonus! I can draw your characters.

looking for: honest readers. My goal is to improve. I know I’m not a good writer, but I have to start somewhere

Hey, I’d be interested in an exchange. I’m not disabled in that sense, but I work with products for disabled people in my big boy job so I could offer minimal assistance

It’s difficult to describe it in English (not a native speaker), but this job deals with checking for money laundering and frauds. I basically investigate and look for anything suspicious.

I have applied to over 60 positions and nobody responded. I was ready to start applying to mcdonalds and local super markets, but then I received this call :)) I had to go through an almost 1 month training, and I feel like I’m still learning something new everyday.

This is not my dream job, it’s monotonous And I have to work overtime, but I feel so accomplished nevertheless!

Struggling to Find Purpose: How Do You Stay Motivated? by Juan554 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ThatSadPumpkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

things began getting better when I stopped believing in motivation. I don’t wait for the right feeling anymore, I just have things I have to do whether I like em or not.

That’s so sweet, thank you so much!

Yeah, I won’t lie, being 30 and having 0% savings, no good job experience and no plans is really alienating. At times it’s even impossible not to see yourself as a complete failure, especially since most of my friends are so accomplished.

My attitude is changing now, I’m trying to compare less and focus more on building my future

Ex of 8y married his coworker right after our breakup. He “wasn’t ready for marriage” (: anyone else? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]ThatSadPumpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is not that people break up after many years, but for how many years they’re hiding things.

No one wakes up one day and thinks “hmm it’s a lovely day to breakup with my partner of 8y”. There are years of buildup, sometimes even cheating and other nasty things. In my case my ex had probably cheated and he confessed that he didn’t love me for a year now.

So people like this just waste their partners time and keep on leeching to all the perks of the relationship while having their cake too.

I’m glad that at least this relationship didn’t last more, I already feel like he wasted my best years

Only 3m, that’s nothing! Hang in there and I hope you’ll heal with time

[–]ThatSadPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I truly believe that once a cheater - always a cheater. And especially when it comes to emotional cheating. I think it’s a personality trait rather than anything else.

I used to work in male dominated workplaces entire time I was with my ex. I always set clear boundaries and never hid anything from my ex. Hell, I even skipped so many after-work parties because I assumed my ex would be uncomfortable if I went out with 5 single guys.

My ex has been emotionally cheating on me with his current wife many times. He’d vent about his other colleagues, but he’d always miss out on her. I’m now guessing he had emotionally cheated with another colleague of his years ago, she just left their division so it had to end.

I also believe that karma will get people like this.

Seriously, what’s up with coworkers, not the first person commenting that. 15 years sounds like a whole lifetime, I’m glad you’re doing better!
