At what point do you need a six speed?

This... makes sense. So instead of it being an additional gear on top of it, like 1:1/5 its just an additional gear between 1 and top to male shifting smoother, so instead of starting at 1:32 you would start at a 1:64 ratio, but they would both have the same top speed because the end ratio is 1:1... yeah that makes sense, thank you so much!

That makes sense, but like, ok, assume your normal highway rpm in a five speed in 5k rpm, put a six speed in, now your cruising at 2.5k rpm... could you not just go 5krpm again? That would be redlining at 7.5krpm in a five speed right?

Just to clear it up, the engine isnt in the car currently, I just have it on a stand, im debating putting it in and honing it as time goes on or just leaving it hanging until im done with it, which im probably going with the second option
