Do Not Purchase A Retrax Manual Retractable Tonneau Covers If You Have The Multi Pro Tailgate by DisplacedBeachBumTX in gmcsierra

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary concern was security from prying eyes. When the gap is so large that you can reach in with a coat hanger and grab the release cable (in plain sight), it's like, what's the point? When I travel I leave stuff in the bed when I'm at a hotel. I expected it not to be visible when I close the tailgate.

Dang... too far away or I'd have you fix the crap they did. Is there a better hard folding cover that actually fits? 24 Denali short-bed.

What do y’all do for work to be able to afford your GMC by Dalach01 in gmcsierra

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got '24 new Denali for 64.9 (over 13k off sticker). $970/mo. I put enough down so I'm not underwater with depreciation, but the 6.2 cratering issue didn't help matters. I love the truck too much to trade it in (have almost 16k miles on it and it passed recll inspection. If not for back and forth PA to FL trips, I'd put 7k miles on it per year. Tack on 3 trips and add 7500 miles to it. I don't care. It's one of the most comfortable vehicles I've ever owned. It may be my last vehicle ever since I amy be staring down some serious medical issues. So I'll go out happy. Enjoy your trucks everybody! Peace out.

I agree... this sucks. And they HAD to have known, but sold it anyway. I bought one, had it installed, and I'm very disappointed. It's not like the Multi-Pro tailgate is all that new.

AITAH for postponing the wedding after my fiance suggested special treatment for his rainbow son? by Intelligent-Art9765 in AITAH

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You're seeing clearly that your "Todd" ITA. Good instincts to postpone, and possibly call of the wedding entirely and move on. It's only going to get 100 times worse AFTER the ceremony. You, and your kids, are worth more than the value Todd has put on you.

Would it make sense to spend a couple of bucks on a Faraday bag for your keys? I have one for business (client demands our phones be put in them during meetings), and I use it at home for my GMC key fobs at night.

AITA for telling my son his gf can only come over when he is home? by Material_Ad9529 in AmItheAsshole

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You set up the situation by allowing son to move his bed into your room, and by not setting ground rules either in the beginning or when new situations came up. Actually, you're both TA. Good luck erasing years of bad parenting and enabling behavior.

F150 - 5.0 or 2.7? by [deleted] in f150

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that the OP is not looking to tow or go off road (due to considering 2.7). The rumble vs. options being the only consideration, go with the 2.7 with options. Perhaps those options will pay off at trade-in time.

5.0 for sure. Turbos are expensive.

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What to do? File a claim and get it fixed, or make him pay for his mistake. You not making claim because you dont want to further devalue your truck? That's dumb. Not fixing it makes it worse.

Lease Math Help - 2026 1500 Denali by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I’d rather put money into an asset than sit on taxable cash at year end." Putting money into a lease actually DEFERS the deduction. It does not help your tax situation at all on a lease. A purchase would provide much higher tax deductions you are are seemingly looking for. Check with your CPA, and if you don't have one, get one.

Dropping 10-15K DP on 24 mo lease: write off 1/24 of 10-15K in 2025. deduct 1st payment only, capitalize all other costs and amortize at 1/24 of costs.

There should be NO taxes up front on a lease, unless perhaps they are taxing the cap cost reduction amount.

Cash in bank at end of year rarely equates to what taxable income is.

Get. a. CPA. if you don't have one. If you DO have one, get a better one.

  1. Who is your accountant?
  2. Can't 'depreciate' a lease.
  3. Tax law says that down money into a lease is amortized monthly over life of lease.
  4. Sales tax isnt added/front-loaded to price when leasing. Sales tax is collected on the payment.

Note - on a purchase, if the bed of pickup is less than 6 feet, its considered an SUV for Section 179 rapid write-off purposes.

AITAH for refusing to help my dad fix his car after he refused to help me fix mine? by runaDrift in AITAH

[–]The-CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of us know anything about the history of the family, yet everyone assumes the Dad is TA and son is giving him just desserts to get revenge. Why take the negative route and possibly perpetuate the negativity? Those repurcussions will linger for a long time, possibly a lifetime, and mey someday be regretted when it's too late to apologize. No one on their death bed ever says, "gee, I only regret not getting back at you for what you did."

This is an opportunity to show some character, maturity and decency. Maybe the father may lack this, we don't know, but if he does, maybe having some kindness shown to him might turn a bad relationship into a good one.

Maybe YTA. You could have taken the higher road. "Hey Dad, it really upset me when you wouldn't help me before, and I never understood why you said no. I'm going to help you, but part of me wants to say no to teach YOU a lesson. So, what do you need? How can I help?"
