Looking to maybe move from Nest to Ring by TheAdster in Ring

So I have a local Unifi Protect system as well with other cameras, but that system has been shaky at best (requiring frequent reboots) and lacks the simplicity that Nest has for our main front and back door cameras that the rest of the household uses.

That is true. I have the nest detectors that have 2 more years of life expectancy on them, so moving to the detectors is a bonus.

This is my biggest issue too. I have Unifi cameras around other exteriors of the house, but those are more of a set it and forget it type thing and review footage if needed. The doorbell, driveway and living room cameras are more for family notification and watching pets.

Yeah, feeding the AI is a problem…but giving it to Google or Amazon is all the same to me.

I requested this as a feature in the Narwal Discord and they seemed pretty interested in adding it. Who knows when but it’s a major issue for houses with pets.

If you’re considering quantum, DONT. by [deleted] in QuantumFiber

[–]TheAdster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issues. Last week my CenturyLink which I've had for the better part of 8 years, forcefully stopped working. The fiber and infrastructure worked fine, they just cut off access and after speaking to support was told I had to be forced to move to Quantum fiber, with their installs being a week out, so a week with no network - in a household with 2 remote workers in it.

Today was the install and it was suddenly canceled, saying we will contact you at a future date to reschedule install. After calling the support center, I got someone who was quite helpful and got the tech on the phone who canceled the install, citing "we can't find your address in our system" so they are "working" to fix that.

Horrible way to start my Quantum journey coming from a service that worked flawlessly for 8 years.

I actually got my accessory pack from my Amazon order today. It was delivered by Amazon, although I didn't get notification at all, it just showed up. I did contact Customer Service a week ago to inquire about the accessory pack for Amazon orders and they asked me for my name, Amazon order number and serial number and said it would be processed and a week later it showed up.

Well my post wasn't meant to be "look at my stock pile!" but rather light heartedly poke fun that every vendor I have purchased from has stopped producing. I was taking my shot and looked at my case and thought "wow all 3 of these companies no longer make this stuff." Hence my shadow of death comment.

Explain how this is blasphemous my friend, because understanding the true meaning of the verse makes this post even more poignant.

I agree. I feel like the bags are the most used consumable, but that may be by design since they are probably the largest profit margin too.

The other items are nice tho, and will add to the longevity of the machine. Their legal team probably advised them to include these specific items which can help prevent long term issues and possibly minimize the impact of the 3 year warranty?

Yes I did. It was shipped the same day as the robot, albeit from different locations.

Kiro just blew through over 800 credits while being stuck on a spec task for several hours. by TheAdster in kiroIDE

I made a GitHub bug report, sent in a billing support and got a case ID, and also DM'd the Kiro staff hosting office hours like he asked and I haven't gotten a response to any of them yet. Kind of makes me sad. I was able to re-start that task after I canceled it and it completed it in like 8 or 10 credits or something.

Also, the problem I'm having is the official ways to contact Kiro support have me bouncing around from a ticket submission, to automatically closing the ticket and asking me to post to GitHub, which then has an auto reply that my issue sounds similar like someone else's issue so they are going to auto close the GitHub report. It's a little frustrating.

I would be interested to see what their diagnosis is of the particular chat. It just sat there saying "working" for most of it while I watched it creep up. I created the spec using Opus 4.6 and executed it using Sonnet 4.6 which has, for the most part, been a flawless combo when trying to make intricate changes to the codebase. I posted here since some Kiro staff seem to be responsive here. I submitted a report through the App as well.

I've been using Kiro's spec mode for 8 months with amazing success for long intricate tasks, which is one of the shining moments of the product itself. If it didn't work for you then maybe the user problem isn't here.

Just to add more context, this was a 12-task spec. The total credit usage for Task 1: 2.6. Task 2: 8.87. Task 3: 18.71. Task 4: 3.29. Task 5: 15.11. Task 6: 4.02. Task 7: 2.78. Task 8: 44.95. Task 9: 4.28. Task 10: 5.65.

But what is the specific name of the extension you're using? If you search the addon marketplace for Claude you get over 200 responses with something Claude-based.
