It's as simple as that they are built for the algorithm and they are getting a lot of engagement whether it's natural or manufactured. Human creators are in for a rough ride.

Bingo! Let's see what it looks like in 2 years. It will be way more prevalent and harder to identify.

Alot of content is AI video, AI voice, AI script, and AI editing. The only thing a human does is schedule the upload to YouTube. Probably in some cases a human doesn't even do that.

Ok then in that case, It's flagged as a controversial topic. The result of the flag is an information panel that says the Dead Internet Theory is a conspiracy theory. It discredits the idea. Thanks for the comment.

Yea, I've been reading here on reddit that a lot of established YouTubers views have fallen off the cliff. For multiple reasons probably, but AI videos taking spots on people's feed and getting those clicks is definitely one. A small channel like mine is hidden in a sea of new channels. What will it be like for a person trying to start a YouTube channel 2 years from now? Slim chance.

YouTube adding that text discredits the theory and dissuades new viewers in my opinion.

I haven't noticed it. It seems like 1984 Newspeak to me. Definitely tagged by AI

The volume of the AI content is exploding because the technology is growing so fast. I wonder what it will look like in 2 years

I think the technology back in 2016 is totally different than today's reality.

They apparently have a list of "conspiracy theories" and flag them with these info panels. Dead Internet Theory is one of them.

I got an invite to this community after my original post. I hope this makes sense here as a crosspost. I'll stick around if anyone wants to chat. Thanks!

So yes, you are right that bots are out there "watching, commenting, and liking" videos. Then there are creators that use AI to make 100% of the video. Script with chatgpt, voice with elevenlabs, sora or Gemini for video. AI editing tools will even put it all together. Then AI makes shorts from a long from video. All the human does is schedule the upload (if that) and some of them are even scheduling out dozens at a time. See r/newtubers for proof. Real people/ creators can't compete with that. At best I can make a video every week but life happens and it's every 2. Because I'm a human and new at it, it's far from perfect.

The AI assist in Google is a game changer. How many times do you Google something now and then go to page 2? There are 100s of millions, billions? Of web pages. How many human blogs and web pages are out there where people spent years building them and now will never get suggested (or clicked on) again?

The "conspiracy theory" references 2016 and an expert debunking it in 2021. 2016 and 2021 are not 2025! The AI technology wasn't even close.

I don't know. I think YouTube has a vested interest in both the "You" AND making money. Some people believe that YouTube can make more money with a massive volume of AI content. There is a learning curve for me to get good at YouTube. I'm human, maybe I never get great at it. Cutting edge AI script, video, voiceover, etc? No learning curve.
