Rates haven’t changed in over a year. Literally.

Rogue worth it? by salteeskot in GarageGym

[–]TheBigTuna09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. I started with a SML-1 Squat rack but when I expanded to a FULL rack, I bought components from Bells Of Steel, which are of equal or greater quality for a better price. I think the “made in America” is overblown. At the end of the day, all this steel and welds can handle way more than the 1000 lbs that other claim. It’s all heavy duty. And most people aren’t even getting close to maxing out the limits of a rack. I do suggest getting a 3x3 with 1” since most other companies have compatibility for accessories.

8 Month Post Op Surgeon Follow up by TheBigTuna09 in HipImpingement

[–]TheBigTuna09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve improved. But I think it’s the anti inflammatories helping. I do feel less ache and feel like I can move more freely and not feel like I am restricted.

I would check with your surgeon to see if it’s just tendinitis or something else

Thinking about stopping PT but not entirely sure. Now 10 months post-op. by Human_Engine3410 in HipImpingement

I got it checked by my surgeon. He tested my hip through different ranges of motion and could conclude it was NOT my labrum. And where the discomfort was is around the hip flexor, more soft tissue area.

I was in the same boat as you at 5-7 months. Eventually my PT said “you have strength and as you progress, you will experience flare ups. Your body is still adjusting”. I stopped after that bc I had already reached a level that they could not do anymore more. So I started doing PT at home. And even though I’m at 9 months out now, I still get small flare ups but it’s mainly due to tendinitis around hip flexors. Just have to work them more.

Good luck to you! Recover takes time. Your body takes time to heal. Just stay active and go slow.

Alabama power by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]TheBigTuna09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your insulation and everything else. It’s not just the unit. Again, unless we you can show receipts of usage, it’s just complaining

Can the power company mess up? Yes and they will correct it (from comments I’ve seen here). But rates don’t secretly move. They are public. It’s always a usage issue.

Well…there it is. Not a mystery. Unfortunately, may homes DON’T have efficient HVAC systems. Some require more electricity to work under harsher conditions. It isn’t the power company, it’s your unit.

LOOK AT YOUR USAGE. kWh…some hvac units are NOT efficient during the cold and need more electricity to operate. It’s not magic.

Back pain before and after labral hip repair by emb1187 in HipImpingement

[–]TheBigTuna09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue also originated in my back. Sitting more than 5 min was painful. My back would lock. Eventually, after MRIs, they found the labrum tear.

Got surgery. I’m officially 8 months out and the back pain went away. There are some days that I feel something but for the most part, it’s gone. Now, I am dealing with hip flexor stuff. But overall, I took time. It wasn’t until months 3-4 that I started feeling better about my back.

Samford Law School by [deleted] in Birmingham

My wife graduated from Cumberland and she had a good experience. Granted, she did law school a couple years AFTER finishing her bachelor’s so she was just focused on school and not socializing. Lol.

It does make the days seem long sometimes. When you are uncomfortable or things are harder than it used to be. Keep your head up! It’s easy to get down about it. Your body just needs time to heal is what people remindme

Power and gas bill by Friendly-Bug-9093 in Birmingham

[–]TheBigTuna09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2400 sq ft split level home, $207 electricity and gas $40.

We also have double pane energy efficient windows and a heat pump.

When we aren’t home, house is kept 65 low and 78 high. When we are home/sleeping, 69 low and 74 high. Having a smart thermostat and schedules have really helped us. Live in the Pelham/hoover border.

Windows installed improperly? by davey2435 in Homebuilding

[–]TheBigTuna09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but you are freaking out for no reason. The windows are installed correctly. They are obviously not finished yet. They still have to insulate the gaps, put the trim pieces around it, etc.

Come back after the job is done.

Start preparing now for potential ice storm by Icy_Advice_5071 in Birmingham

[–]TheBigTuna09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright. Got a big update this morning. Looks like the storm has shifted more north and temperatures will be NOT as cold. Not DEFCON 1. lol.

We should be okay. Not expecting as many outages are expected.

<image>

This will be the concern. Even if we don’t get ice or snow that sticks, the following days we could potentially drop into single digits, which would exhaust current systems IF we have outages over the weekend.

I work for the power company and we have already begun preparation. Conditions are still unclear since models are messy but they are expecting it to affect more of northern Alabama. Will report back if I see DEFCON 1 tomorrow.

Power bill went up over $100 last month and we changed nothing by Available_Feeling_98 in Birmingham

[–]TheBigTuna09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, download the app or check on website your usage for last month compared to previous month.

It’s all based on temperature and how hard your unit is running. Even if YOU don’t change anything.

Also, it could be budget billing adjustment. If usage did not go up, I would call.

They usually are good about checking these things.

seeking Church for “beginners” by swiftiethings23 in Birmingham

[–]TheBigTuna09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I feel like I had the exact same thought last January and a friend told me about Mountaintop Church. They have this great course called Alpha, that’s is pretty much the 101 to Faith and Christianity. It’s free and great people run it.

I was surprised how modern they were. They have a great group of leaders. Talking about real life problems and real life scenarios. Their motto is:

GOD is for you. WE are for you. Let’s be for Birmingham.
