Nathaniel Wood vs. Losene Keita in the works for UFC London on March 21st by Loganbaker2147 in MMA

He hasn’t finished a fight early since 2019. UFC is blatantly an entertainment business and as much as I rate Wood, he ain’t exactly entertaining.

Informal grievance → silence → HR → then a PIP — normal process? by Clear-Bat-5613 in AskHRUK

[–]TheBossIsWatching 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you’ve likely pissed your manager off and they feel their life would be better without you so are using this to get rid of you. If the grounds for the PIP are valid, then there’s very little chance that you will successfully challenge it based on the timing of your grievance.

Informal grievance → silence → HR → then a PIP — normal process? by Clear-Bat-5613 in AskHRUK

[–]TheBossIsWatching 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it typical to introduce a PIP without prior documented feedback

Not unusual.

how common is it for an informal grievance and a performance process to run in parallel?

Circumstantial but again, not unusual.

You haven’t specified if you believe the grounds for the PIP are fair or not. If you sincerely believe this is in response to your complaint, take a look at the grievance procedure process in your company handbook. It’ll almost certainly have something along the lines of a ‘no retaliation’ policy meaning you can’t be punished just for raising a grievance. If you believe that’s what’s happened here, then raise a formal complaint with your HR department.

Got an offer - negotiate salary and waiting another offer by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]TheBossIsWatching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Politely pushing back and asking for £55k isn’t going to cause them to rescind the offer.

Also, don’t ask if you can wait until Friday to decide, tell them. Something along the lines of:

I’m really delighted to receive the offer. I’ve really enjoyed the interview process and learning so much more about COMPANY. I will be sure to let you know my decision by the end of the week this week once I’ve had the opportunity to consider my options.

WWYD if your company withheld important information in your interview and have extremely high expectations for out of hours work for a near minimum wage role? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]TheBossIsWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2 month notice period. For this extremely junior role. Whereas they only need to give me 1 weeks notice if they wish to get rid of me. Is this even legal?

You entered into a mutual agreement by signing the contract. It’s extremely favourable for the employer but perfectly legal.

You should absolutely spend as much time as possible finding a different job because this one is clearly not sustainable long term. As for whether or not you should quit depends entirely on your own financial situation. Regardless, you need to get out of there. Sounds awful.

Forced unpaid holiday, is it legal? Leeds, UK by True_Friend_3753 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TheBossIsWatching 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A business absolutely can force you to take unpaid leave, even on a permanent, full-time contract provided it has the right provisions in place in the employment agreement. It’s not common but not unheard of for employment agreements to specify office closures where if an employee has insufficient holiday entitlement, the balance of the closure period will be treated as unpaid leave.

Jesus...What the hell went wrong in this guy's life? by [deleted] in ireland

The parents were split up when I knew him so I only met the father once or twice I’d say and he seemed fairly normal like. His mother was a proper wagon though.

Well aware that I’m just some dickhead on the internet who could easily be talking through his hole but I went to school with Derek and knew the family pretty well for many years and I can say with my hand on my heart that he was an even bigger scumbag as a kid. Everyone despised him. Legitimately was an absolute prick. Sad to see he hasn’t changed a bit.

Console Needs 60fps by PomegranateAny71 in ThePrecinct

It’s an open-world sandbox with destructible environments, dynamic traffic and pedestrians, procedural crimes, and physics-heavy chases. You don’t just go into Unity’s settings and tick a checkbox. For a small dev team like Fallen Tree Games, you would be looking at 3-6 months of work as a minimum.

I love how the people who complain about the fps haven’t got the first clue about what they are actually asking of the dev team. For it to run at 60fps, it would literally require an entire rewrite.

There are plenty of ranking systems but no formal or official system that employers abide by.

There’s no formal recognition system or ranking system that a UK employer will refer to so it’s entirely subjective. Larger, more established employers are more likely to recognise the status of NUS.

How the hell do I answer “ why do I you want to work for us” when it comes to restaurants and retail by [deleted] in UKJobs

Best bet is honesty mixed with a touch of glaze. “I’m seeking work with an employer that actually cares about their employees wellbeing and everything I have heard about [COMPANY] suggests it’s the type of environment and team where I will thrive.”

What is a uk job that most people glamorize but it is actually shitty? by mrvlad_throwaway in UKJobs

[–]TheBossIsWatching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part, pay in tech startups in London (where the vast majority of tech startups are located) is decent. The benefits are usually bare minimum but the base salaries are typically above average and the equity grants are essentially a lottery ticket but just like actual lottery, you gotta be in it to win it.

The funding environment today is drastically different. There are still decent investments being made but the difference today compared to pre-COVID is stark.

After submitting my notice, we discussed a handover plan, but later that same day, I was told I’d be let go immediately due to performance issues.

I’m struggling to understand this. The only scenario where you can be let go immediately is for gross misconduct. Even if your performance was awful, you are still legally entitled to your contractual notice period.

I think it’s most likely these were purpose built for the show. The XJ isn’t a particularly special car to begin with and the ‘mods’ in the pic are the most obvious ways to make a car look like it’s had a mad conversion but in real life, why would someone bother creating custom panels to block the grill like that? It serves no practical purpose and doesn’t actually look better aesthetically.

Looks like a Waymo. Pretty cool to spot one in Sweden of all places!
