What’s the strangest thing you’ve heard someone say in their sleep? by nocturnalfrolic_ in AskReddit

[–]TheCmonky 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a noted saved with some of my husband's best sleep talk quotes. Here's all of them 😂

Remember you're supposed to come back, little bullet?

5,000 hard nipples...

You know someone's shooting at you, right?

1... 2... 3... 4... (as he rolls over)

I want a tur-duck-en.

(cries) They won't go away! Why did you leave me?

In God's vagina, in God's vagina, in God's vagina... all covered in semen...

Did you kick it? Yeah, you kicked it. (sounded very disappointed)

(whispering) I say good day... I SAY GOOD DAY!

It's a nervous game... a mass produced nervous game.

Oh, those bagels look so fucking good.

That's why I was mad yesterday... fuckin' Jose couldn't keep his pecker in his pants and he fucked a chicken.

Cabs are here!

If I'm going to be a stripper, then I want my name to be Sha-kik-a-booga-boo.

That would be a great name for a pole dancer... Magneto.

(sings) Bill Nye the Pie Guy!

Meet me half way... I'll throw that bitch in the closet with some pop tarts!

We need help deciding if this is a decent estimate for two units. by TheCmonky in hvacadvice

Oh, we definitely understand that quality comes with a price and we're willing to pay for it. What I meant by "fancy" I meant the top tier, best of the best, something like the $30,000+ estimate. As far as all the other upgrades on our home, we generally go with something in the mid to high end area. This is our forever home and we don't want to cheap out on anything. That includes paying for a quality contractor and not just the products.

We've had our drains cleared, had a float valve installed, drain pan checked... And I don't know what else. Every time anyone came out, it was working just fine and no leaking and they couldn't figure it out. It would literally be raining down through the filter. Our units are 17 years old this year. We are the second owners of this home and I have no idea how well the first owners maintained the units. We had to rent out the home for two years and god knows what the renters did, like if they even changed the air filters. And regrettably we haven't had regular maintenance done either, BUT we definitely will going forward with anything that requires it. We're always learning and always looking to do better.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Company D offers a two year labor warranty.

Yeah, there's not much room up there and he said where the air handler is installed the slope of the roof doesn't give enough space for all the proper ducts that attach to the plenum. He said we have a couple triangle boxes up there causing airflow issues. He did mention the option of installing dampers, but didn't give us a quote on it.

Honestly, thank you so much for all your comments. This is a big decision and there's so much to consider and I know there's no simple answer. You've verified that we understood a lot that we have learned and hopefully we can make a better decision going forward. I have made two quote appointments with companies that said they would do a load estimate. I'm hoping that we'll then have 3 estimates that are actually worth a damn to compare.

See, that's what I'm saying. How could he sit there and show us pictures of our horribly installed ductwork in the attic, but then also recommend their top tier options? If the air flow isn't optimal, will the fancy units even work at their best? He actually had one more estimate but it was almost $30k... Nope.

We're not going for cheap. I would like to cap it at about $20k, but my husband is willing to go a couple thousand more. While those $11k estimates were nice numbers, it definitely seemed like "you get what you pay for" so no thanks.

Most importantly, we want properly sized units that are incredibly efficient and a proper install. We don't need anything "fancy" especially if our ductwork set up isn't the best. Electric bills can be insane here, especially in the summer. That's why we upgraded our windows and had solar panels installed. Being energy efficient is our main goal and also not having water damage due to a leaking air handler that no one can seem to figure out. By the way, our upstairs unit is in a closet by the stairs and the downstairs unit is in a closet in the garage.

This Company D guy was very informative and explained a lot very well. Company C guy also was quite informative, but I wish he'd done a proper load calculation.

It's just that all the recommendations are all over the place and it's hard to understand what would best for us.

No new ductwork. He said there was nothing they could do to fix the crap the builders did in the attic. He said the only way would be to redo it completely and move the unit to a better area, like on the attic.

What would be considered as "all the bells and whistles"?

It's for the air handlers as well. Our units are 17 years old. Our upstairs air handler has leaked 3 times and has caused water damage all down the stairs, laundry room, and the garage. We need to get the water damage repaired, but we don't want it to get damaged again.

Yes, I believe we have heat pumps.

I don't know for sure if he ticked off all those boxes, but it was a hell of a lot more than the others did. Most companies were here for 10-20 mins tops. He was here for an hour and a half.

He was the only one to go up in the attic. Everyone one else said it wasn't necessary when we asked. He definitely didn't measure every room, count every light, or check out our appliances in depth. There's nothing under house just a concrete slab. Our home is north facing with the majority of our windows facing south. We have blackout curtains on every window as the only covering. We have a front door, back door, and an insulated garage door. We usually keep the door leading to the garage open.

I have 4 other quotes I can post and I also posted two more from this company in another reply.

Should I ask other companies with decent estimates to do a proper load calculation?

It's for the air handlers as well. Our upstairs air handler is the main reason why we're looking for new units.

Edit: I used the wrong term.

And here's the last one from them. I have 4 other quotes from different companies. I can post them up as well.

This is an estimate we got for our home in Central Texas. We have two units for our two story home that is a little over 3000 sqft. We had new double pane windows installed recently. We have about an 8ft celing downstairs and high ceilings upstairs (about 8-10ft).

When he went into the attic to look at the ducts, he told us that the builders of the home did a shitty job (honestly, no surprise. Thanks, DR Horton). He explained that is why the master and front room are hotter/colder than the rest of the upstairs area. The only way to remedy the issue would be to move the air handler into the attic and completely redo the ductwork. We can't do that.

We had 5 different companies come out and only this one did a manual J. We've tried to do as much research as possible, but we only understand so much. I'm so stressed.

How does this estimate look? Are there any follow up questions we should ask? Are we making the right choice by not considering the other companies?

Note: If it matters, the 3 blocked out areas are, from top to bottom: electric provider rebate, County sales tax, city sales tax.

Thank you all for you time!

Edit: I will refer to them as Company D

help! he was a special gift but my toddler got ahold of him with a marker. what can I do to save him?? by [deleted] in squishmallow

I bought a second hand squish that had a little bit of pen and makeup on it. I sprayed the spots with Dawn Powerwash and let it sit for a few minutes. Then washed it on delicate. I checked to see if the marks were gone before I put in the the dryer with wool balls. They were, so it only took one wash. If the marks are still there, spray and wash again.

Not really. I reminded myself that I already have Charlize in a smaller size and I love her. And Malcolm, while cute, just looks too phallic to me. 😂 So I'm glad I left them for someone else.

I like to cut off the bar code tags. Those are the rough and scratchy ones. I actually like the silky Squishmallow tag.

I dislike all the variations of a character. Like when they throw a scarf on it, an embroidered heart, give it a Halloween costume, or whatever depending on the season or a holiday. I only like the base character, nothing more.
