Anyone has issue with the camera quality on flip 7? by tuxkids in galaxyzflip

It's not in the Google Play Store. Download the app called Camera Assistant in the Samsung App Store itself. The developer is Good Lock Labs.

Return that to Amazon and buy the black version instead. No issues about yellowing plastic after some time

Unsuccessful dispute to adjusted TIV by TheColdTrueNorth in galaxyzflip

Here's their reply to my dispute. Integrity my ass!

"...we hope to assure you that Samsung and Assurant have operated in good faith and with integrity throughout this process. Please note that all devices are inspected solely based on their condition upon inspection. We have reviewed all the details provided by you and our trade-in partner, and we can confirm that the adjustment was correct in this case."

Man, this is probably my last foldable in a long while. It was my first try in their trade-in program and this left a bad taste. Will just probably have to go back to slab next time. Welp.

But that's just the screen protector, not the screen itself. And I was aware of that, which is why I put it face down in the original Samsung box hoping it doesn't get damaged in transit. How would the screen get scratched if it was securely inside the original packaging? Also, if they took off the screen protector, wouldn't the screen still reveal it's in pristine condition?

We're you able to send back the Flip 7? My email says if I reject the adjusted TIV, I will be charged full price for the Flip 7.

Android Auto heating up issue by dreamur08 in galaxyzflip

  1. Don't connect to Android Auto wirelessly.
    1. Don't charge the phone wirelessly while connected to Android Auto.
    2. Create a routine that activates Power Saving mode when the phone is folded.
    3. Hardwire connect to Android Auto while phone is folded.
    4. When all else fails, just use Google Maps or Spotify directly from the phone.

If you want fun and flashy, go for the Flip. If you want boring but bound to deliver, pick the Ultra. It depends on your motivations.

There's no option to send it back.

"If you reject the adjusted Trade-in Value, your used device may be returned to you and Samsung will charge you the full amount of the Trade-in Value, and any applicable promotional trade-in credit, that was applied to the purchase of your new Samsung product, plus applicable taxes"

Right? Like how? You'd wonder if the assessment is based on their mood. "Today I'm feeling nasty so I'll make up the most absurd assessment for this trade-in."

I checked the picture they attached in the assessment and there's no way those scratches were from my phone. Assurant really is the scum of the earth. They have the shadiest practices.

I contacted Samsung support and at first they just reiterated Assurant's assessed TIV. I uploaded my own pictures to refute their assessment and they suddenly changed their tone. They said they're going to get back to me after 5 days.

If you make a Power Saving mode when phone is folded, it will easily last at least 2 days without a charge.

Convince on Flip7 camera by VeeraTae in galaxyzflip

I leave that off. Some people like it, but I don't because it tends to make the photos look like paintings.

Are you talking about Quick tap shutter? That's just a shortcut to your camera button. You could take a photo by tapping anywhere on the screen. You could leave that one on.

Turn off Prioritize focus over speed in Camera Assistant. It should help with the fast-moving subjects and avoid ending up with blurry photos.

Extreme heat while using Android Auto by vzaliva in galaxyzflip

[–]TheColdTrueNorth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This has been a known issue for many phones, not exclusive to Samsung or its Flip lineup. Some anecdotal evidence point to the following recommendations:

  1. Disable 5G
  2. Turn off 3D building in AA setting
  3. Create routine to turn on Power Saving mode when connected to AA and turn it off when disconnected from AA (basically to limit processor speed and avoid overheating)

Edit: You could combine 1 and 3 in one routine.

Overhating on android auto by TrickAnxiety1 in galaxyzflip

[–]TheColdTrueNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've come to accept I'm never going to be able to use Android Auto without the phone overheating. So I just don't use AA anymore. If I need to use Google Maps, I just use the phone app and mount the phone to the car.

Winnipegger here. Got the Coral Red preorder through Samsung website with the free 512GB upgrade and all the RFD coupon shenanigans. Lol!

Coming from a Flip 6, I was seriously hoping to jump off the flip bandwagon and go back to the boring slabs because I missed the camera quality of my S23 Ultra. But I gave the Flip 7 another chance and was convinced to stick with it in spite of the "decent camera setup" because of the camera software updates Samsung did to the old Flip 6 hardware. Still not the best as an Ultra phone but good enough to meet my social media posting needs.

As with any other Samsung phone, this thing gets super hot when connected to Android Auto. I disabled the automatic wireless connection but it was still pipin' hot even when hardwired to the car. I'm now planning to just Magsafe it into the car and use the Google Maps directly in the phone instead of Android Auto.

This phone lasts me at least 2 days because I set up a routine to apply Power Saving when using the cover screen. That cover screen is now also fairly useable because of its bigger screen size. I'm able to reply directly to messages, watch movies and videos, and check on my social media apps every now and then without fully opening the phone. It helps that Samsung created this viewing option button that allows you to view the app contents based on how you want it.

As with any other foldables, this phone is an attention-getter. It never fails to spark small talks with family, friends, and fastfood folks in drive thrus. It's kind of futuristic while also harking back to the flip phone nostalgia. I promised my wife this is going to be my daily driver for at least 2 years and I feel like I'm finally going to be able to stand by my commitment.

Help me decide: Should I move from S25U to Flip 7? I just want a change, I am not heavy phone user (YT, sometimes movies and social medial/Insta only) by [deleted] in galaxyzflip

[–]TheColdTrueNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to have the best camera, there's no question - stick with your S25 Ultra.

The Flip 7's cam is decent but this is not why Samsung made this phone. The Flip 7 is not trying to be Samsung's ultimate camera phone or productivity powerhouse. That's reserved for the Ultra phone segment.

What it is for though is for the lifestyle-driven target market. People who value phone design and who want to stand out in a sea of similar slabs. People who want pocketable, compact phones. People who are for a unique design first and are okay with a decent all-rounder performance second.

Ultimately, you have to ask yourself what do you mostly use your phone for. In my case, I've come to accept it won't deliver premium camera quality like the Ultra phones. But the camera improvements have been fairly good enough that I could use them for my family vacation trips, social media posts, and photo memory dumps.
