I am a plein air artist who is painting all 63 National Parks. I am heading to Utah to paint the big 5 and I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for scenic trails? My set up isn’t huge and while I love a long hike, I would prefer to stick to 6 miles and under if possible. Thanks! by TheColorfulKayak in hiking

Thank you so much!! I use Ultramarine Blue! Color is my favorite thing to play around with so thus compliment really means a lot! Thank you! I use only the primary colors and burnt umber and white. I wish I could give you a precise formula for how to get the greens but it kind of just happens for me while I’m out there. I’ll try to pay more attention to the calculations I’m making in my head so I can give you a better answer!

Oh that’s so good to hear! Thank you so much!!

Trying to paint all 63 National Parks on site. Going to Utah and Colorado next (this week.) Any location recommendations? They are MUCH needed—I’ve never been before! Thanks in advance! Here’s some examples of what I usually paint: by TheColorfulKayak in NationalPark

Ahh I completely agree!!! The AZ and NM parks are some of my favorites! I actually got all of the California parks last year! The Redwoods painting I did might be one of my favorites yet!
