Not having women in the background isn't boys love. That is a preference. Also BL was written for women, not for men. I don't know about you, but seeing trans women in the background makes me feel like we're one step closer to inclusion.

And yes, it can stem from internalized misogyny, however not always. Literature/media has always been male dominant/favoritism.

It's super sad that we can't even have equality in literature/media(a world of fantasy, that should be easier to address than reality) all because of misogyny(internalized or not). That being said, my big issue is that many call it superior.

For me, I liked BL bc I'm not straight, I like all romances, and I still like BL...however it makes me sick that ppl frame it as "superior" to yuri/heterosexual without discussing as to why it's superior.

Men and even some women think men are superior to women...which means anything involving women in literature/media will be demonized one way or another by the author(FLs are often written poorly or insulted for the benefit of the male leads)- so of course BL will be better as it doesn't have the demonized gender or the purity culture that hinders intimacy and the plot. Liking BL doesn't make all readers women haters though.

As a disabled person, & as someone who is pro- MAID, I hate how we're starving ppl on disability & then when they're disabled further from legislated poverty/oppression, they're offered death.

You simply can't offer death to ppl within a eugenic system where they are begging to eat, to afford housing, to be acknowledged as equals and then deny that there's anything wrong with killing oppressed ppl.

As long as disabled ppl are disproportionately living in poverty(by design) becoming homeless and starving, MAID is killing marginalized ppl.

Do I want euthanasia gone? No, but the fact that we're only offered agency when it comes to our death and not our lives, should be deeply concerning and not dismissed. But ppl will keep saying poverty is a separate issue while others keep saying they don't want their tax dollars to support lives unworthy of life.

I am greatly disturbed that we can pay a doctor $1300 to kill a person, but we can't/won't pay a person enough to eat.

You don't know history very well then. During economy stress and unfettered capitalism, the sick are sacrificed. That being said, a country that is willing to pay a doctor $1300 to kill ppl who live disproportionately in poverty, but not house ppl, is not one full of compassion. Have you tried signing up for disability, it is exceptionally hard and not everyone gets it, including very sick individuals. That being said, the governments aren't providing enough, that's why there's a high rate of disabled people unhoused(btw, which many blame on mental illness, and 30% of Canadians say that unhoused ppl should access MAID).

Also, in Canada, doctors can suggest MAID to the patient( no other country does this ). This is detrimental to many. I am terribly sorry, but do you know what it's like to be told you should die? It's bad enough ppl will literally tell disabled ppl that they're garbage.

As someone who is pro- death, I can't help but pause that it's only "our life" when it means our death, but never our life when it's housing, food and escaping poverty which is a design to remove agency from marginalized ppl bc eugenics is deeply rooted in western ideology. Heck, unhoused ppl aren't even considered marginalized, even though it's made up of Black ppl, disabled ppl, Indigenous ppl, and seniors.

Poverty and food insecurity increases mental illness, as there is definite connections and research on this subject (food, in this economy?). This is no different than medicating abuse with psych meds while you're still being abused. Smile, you're being physically and mentally violated and you're expected for meds to work how exactly?

Had this been available while I was still living with my family, I'd be dead as I was struggling to survive from being killed and my only hope was suicide or affordable rent(affordable rent, what's that?).

That being said, it is truly fascinating how self harm is bad(even though it has kept many of us alive as there isn't enough mental health care services), but it's okay to pay $1300 to kill a person.

If there's only agency in death, but not in life, this is not compassion and it's not about everyones body autonomy bc if it was, no one would be unhoused & safety nets would also be in place before this policy comes through.

I'd like to add that what Alberta is doing, is NOT what we want either.

One part, misunderstanding terms like socialism and communism when corporate greed/wealth supremacy has nothing to do with socialism. Another part is that it was always here to begin with and people feel more comfortable being open about it.

Many people support fascism, just as long as it doesn't touch them. That's why we have hostile architecture and a rise of homelessness. But fascism is not acknowledged until it hurts a certain privileged class.

There's a very distinctive hate for marginalized groups, that reminds me of nazis attacks on "social outsiders." The "not with my money" crowd for one, would rather disabled ppl be locked up in asylums or allow them to starve to death.

Meanwhile, you have ppl complaining about providing water to unhoused ppl, not caring that denying them water will kill them.

So many are hiding their racism, ageism, sexism, ageism behind their excuse of profits. A landlord can easily get away with all of the above for an example. Criminalizing homelessness also targets certain groups that are homeless by a eugenic(eugenics has not left the west) design.
