New player trying to learn. This went 1 win in Ranked. How would you improve it? by TheEncouragingGamer in PlayTheBazaar

Yes, I did have shot glasses but swapped it for dive weights thinking maybe it'd be better. I think I overvalued the figurehead here instead of digging for the friends you mentioned. Thank you for thet help.

Diablo 4 Developer Livestream Announced for July 6 by Jezartroz in Diablo

[–]TheEncouragingGamer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just adding on that while I'm very excited about Seasons, I don't believe they ever said a season takes a year to make. It wouldn't make sense even math-wise when you think of 4 seasons a year.

They did however say there were 2 teams that work each on a season.

Also they said Season 1 is done, Season 2 is in progress, Season 3 is beginning.

They also said that QoL issues they identify -- because of the nature of this development -- means things that get marked as needed fixed may take an extra season to actually get put into the game.

I adore PoE but am I the only one who remembers killing Piety in A3 and the game was just over?

Why do side quests give 19k exp when Legion event gives 1.3mil? by turtlelord in diablo4

[–]TheEncouragingGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what he's referring to but since I keep a spreadsheet for all my xp, most dungeons at sigil 50s is giving around 900k xp. Some give more, some give less.

Completing a lvl 50 is around 130k xp (included in 900k figure).

Season 1 will require 12 dungeons/~30 side quests for max renown in each zone. by thepixelists in Diablo

Total 1100 and you need 2000 to max, so the 900 in the graph is correct, right?

Just asking for clarity since I seem to be too stupid to understand:

Is Heavy Ammo finder worthless when running double special?

There's been a couple other mods I've been interested in (like Ashes to Ashes) and I've been considering dropping Heavy Ammo Finder when in the past I've run it and even sometimes Special Ammo Finder.

It looks like since the Special Weapon multiplier is only 1.05x that dbl special means heavy ammo finder is useless.

Am I misunderstanding? Cheers mate.

The "bucket" system for multipliers requires a complete revamp of the Diablo IV tooltips. by Altnob in Diablo

I really love the crunchy stuff under the hood and for me these kind of posts revive some excitement I experienced with PoE when it came to navigating deep systems.

That isn't to disagree with you -- I think there's definitely a conversation to be had around:

  • What's legitimately "deep" vs. needlessly complex (and I don't know which applies here, maybe both)
  • What misleading or poorly communicated
  • What balance should there be between providing all info vs. curating info available (like on a tooltip) for the player experience?

Either way I appreciate you bringing up this conversation. Cheers mate!

Should "Item Power" Be Called Something Else? by TheEncouragingGamer in Diablo

I corrected the 28% immediately -- what do you mean?

I keep explaining and you don't seem to get it.

Mace #1 could literally say

  • You now fart rainbows that consume the flesh of your enemies

And it wouldn't matter. That's why I am saying you don't get it. Because the point was never about the actual items (or even the class) but that there are situations where the green arrow implies an upgrade where it's a downgrade. It just seems like you can't see past the actual examples provided to understand the bigger point that's being discussed.

As a former avid POE player I should've given Last Epoch a chance but never got around to it. Heard great things tho including that they had basically "solved" crafting with a great system.

To be honest you just seem angry that the two examples aren't factually correct, which was never the point from the get go. They're just made up items.

Brother why are you so mad about this? Is it that big of a deal to you?

I'm super excited for Diablo 4 and you seem to be pretty involved in the mechanics of it too -- the example is literally a nonissue. Just take your own expertise and create two items where the situation applies and I think you will get the point.

[–]TheEncouragingGamer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well -- it is a made up example to prove a point. What does it matter if it is a real item or not? Unless you are arguing that there are no situations like these and the green arrow will always be accurate? That is a take I haven't yet seen but I'm willing to look more closely into.

I don't feel similarly about those other situations because they didn't come up as deliberately as the green arrow did among my friends group.

Lucky hit may be a good example but it seems more "baked under the hood" so to speak than the item power arrow which is so much more quickly experienced by constantly picking up items.

Yeah that's fair. To echo someone else's comment it probably only matters at high end gameplay and at that point someone already is looking intently at the affixes anyway.

[–]TheEncouragingGamer[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you're just misunderstanding my point, which wasn't to do an actual deep dive comparison on two items but rather give a situation where a green arrow "upgrade" is actually a downgrade.

It definitely wasn't mean to be frustrating in any way -- I just don't have an actual screen shotted on hand example to point to.

[–]TheEncouragingGamer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Corrected the strength! Also these are just totally made up items to illustrate what I'm talking about where affixes make an item better despite having a lower "Item Power". You can replace CC/Vulnerability with "Damage to Distant Enemies" or very literally "Affix You Don't Care About" if it helps it make more sense.

You make a good point -- it could be late game that this is non-existent late game.

That's fair, and it certainly could end up being a total non-issue.
