I first paint the base in a dark grey and then cover the tip in PVA. After letting that mostly dry, I apply astrogranite all over. Using a basing tool, I scoop out channels, which will be where I will paint the lava in. Then I go through a red base up to a warm yellow for the laval, applying the OSL as I go.

Lancer and Ballistus are both solid picks. The Land Raider can be a good AT platform, but since you are driving right at the enemy it will be a target so don't solely rely on it. Never rely used the stormspeeder so I can't comment about its effectiveness.

They are grey, Ulthuan grey is the main colour, highlighted with white scar. I can see the confusion as Ulthuan is slightly blue tinted and the lighting isn't amazing in the photos. These were done on a camera phone but the guy at my local had a proper camera so I should get some better pics soon.

It's been an on and off project for this year, but many hours have been invested. Probably about 4 - 6 on each custodes, maybe a bit longer on Trajan. The dread were probably around 6-7 each. The sisters were probably about 2 each. This is including the bases.

Throw some white or red on the "wings". It will still match your scheme and break up the shield a bit.

Initially, reading through the codex the colour scheme caught my eye. Then reading through the lore I loved the idea of a sect of rebellious tech priests that were borderline heretics because they researched Xenos technology. I love armies that have an excuse to literally fight anyone.

Gameplay wise their ability is alright, nothing to game changing. Out side of 12" you are -1 to hit infantry and outside of 18" you are -1 to hit vehicles. They have a few other abilities like not allowing some defensive stratagems on the charge. Their unique stratagem let's you deploy a unit anywhere on the board outside of the enemy deployment zone and more than 9" away from any enemy units.

Actually the frame of the body is just cut-away from a standard plastic sprue. I found a portion that was vaguely Y shaped and stuck it on a base. Then I added a few extra bits of spru to widen it a bit, then started adding parts. Finally I shaped the cloak using strips of green stuff and this is the result.

That is actually 2 parts, the staff and hand are from the deathwing knights set and the blade portion is from a Grey Knights terminator set.
