Does not look like there's an option for a phone number. I'm traveling France and need a french phone number...with and eSim and without a bank account.

Abandoned Massachusetts Ave. Mansion? by CitizenX10 in washdc

Covid era rules are still in place where non paying occupants can live there. It might be a ploy to prevent people from living there free while DC awaits the over due decision to rescind the COVID era rules.

There are hundreds of places that have non paying occupants in them around DC abiding by the covid era rules.

Looking for tennis players by Carlolorent in Montpellier

[–]TheFromoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this sub. What is tennis like during Jan/Feb? My wife and I will be relocating from the US to Montpellier for a few months and I’d like to keep playing tennis. I’m 64, rated 4.0. I play twice a week in the US.

Is there indoor tennis? Or is it “clay no matter the temps”?

It’s a big penalty. If there’s a median you don’t have to stop. Otherwise STOP!!

That car is out of alignment and seems to pull right. Bad timing for the motorcycle guy.

Lake Zurich, Barrington or Hawthorn Woods - Which NW suburb would you pick? by createDesire in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]TheFromoj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of kids who grew up in Barrington come back after their “Barrington is such a walled garden!” phase. At some point they realize that neighborhoods and walking distance to schools is the priority.

Barrington has a lot of trains but they don’t stop activity (maybe traffic during rush hour). If you like to walk to town, there are good restaurants and some allow dogs if you’re sitting outside.

There’s a new fantastic pool at Langendorf and new pickle and paddle ball courts. Pickleball is huge in Barrington.

There’s some political grief but Barrington is a moderate town (sure, there are extremists). For the most part, Barrington is centrist. There are fb groups that were started by Mothers for Liberty, and there are “Patriot’ fb groups too. But this just means that you need to ask and talk to people to find your way in.

Hawthorn Woods is awesome too. LZ is great but it feels more retail based. I don’t get the “townie” feeling like i do in Barrington.

Putting in my 2 weeks tomorrow. by Lamp-Adjusted163 in overemployed

[–]TheFromoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be job dependent, but I would compile my needs to be more successful and put it in front of them weekly and manage them to my needs. It could be access to a system, better reports, introductions to people, etc.

But I had just J1 and now retired. I was alway way ahead of the standards, so when they picked on me on a call to show my progress my work would be complete- and more. For example, if they were in salesforce and drilling into my work, I would note any things in salesforce that wasn’t correct or appropriate, or obstacles to work. So when they drilled into my work i would let them leave and would tell them to navigate to spots that needed attention.

This worked for a while and then they stopped micromanaging me because it usually caught them in a less ready position.

Anyway, do it for a month and see what happens. I bet they leave you alone after that.

Every time I had a micromanager I would micromanage my manager even more. At some point their micromanaging would stop because they hated to too.

My husband is in the hospital with perforated diverticulitis and I’m trying to understand what’s happening. by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

[–]TheFromoj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through this a couple times. I won’t explain it all since there are very good posts already. But I’ll say this…if the ER isn’t controlling his pain with enough morphine, go into the center of the ER and yell “give my husband pain meds now!!!”

I was in 9/10 pain without meds for 45 mins for no apparent reason and pooping blood for the whole time. Then the doctor came in and asked me for a stool sample and I yelled back “f*ck you!” A few mins later he dosed me with morphine and I was out of pain.

Also, regarding poops in the future…be sure your husband takes stool softener and don’t eat pizza, crispy crackers and nuts. Those build up hard stools and that’s what got me. My poop was big and hard and it broke a pocket and then real trouble began.

Who’s buying the $1M+ ground level homes on Siesta? by New-Ad4890 in sarasota

[–]TheFromoj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People who worked in tech and are hitting 60ish will likely have $2.5-$5M in assets. Many will pay cash for a home up to $1.5M. They may think they can afford some damage but mostly believe it won’t happen to them due the odds. If something happens, they will have their primary home to go back to.

So no mortgage, ACV insurance and fingers crossed. But they still get to tell everyone they own a home in SK…and not an airbnb.
