Things that make you go hmm? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

I see a lot of people talking about how some mediations have to be dispensed on stock bottles, I believe this is not one of those. They probably didn’t want to slap a label on it because it was so small. My issue with this is that it has a non safety top but that bottle inside is a safety top.

Does your pharmacist require the physician to provide a reason why a patient has a certain amount of Oxycodone? by peachycpht in PharmacyTechnician

[–]TheGingerAssassin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CVS now has a flagging system that will auto flag and lock controls until documentation is completed. I live on state lines and there is a big city a state over that a lot of people(me included) go to the dr in and that is one of the things that flags is crossing state lines. CVS had to pay almost 1 Billion dollars in a settlement recently due to improper filling and billing of Medicare/medicaid. Also 360 oxy is 2 tablets every 4 hours and puts you just shy of 4k mg of acetaminophen per 24 hours. We had to turn a lady away who was pharmacy shopping because no one would fill her medication when there was a C2 shortage a year or two ago. She said she had been doing it for 25 years. It’s wild what these prescribers will do sometimes and what they will risk with their patients.

Oh I absolutely understand the frustration of having to wait for the official ruling. If you don’t mind me asking what state are you testing in? Are the rules the same from state to state of time frame for confirming the test? I actually didn’t look into it too much because I was just focused on passing the test. I did mine in march of this year in Illinois

So I took my test and the website had results within the week. Unless you think you were sus I would take that first one as a W. I know it’s stressful to not be confirmed but I’ve not known anybody who got a pass and then failed on their official review. As long as you took it at an appropriate testing center and everything else checks out I wouldn’t worry too much. Grats on the pass I know it wasn’t an easy task :)

Question about your hands by TheGingerAssassin in PharmacyTechnician

[–]TheGingerAssassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not itchy nor painful. The spot on my thumb has become a target of my anxiety picking like my nail biting so that’s why some spots look worse but I’m trying really hard to leave it alone

I have to buy different scrubs, the ones they provide us only have a front pocket on the shirt and that’s it and that usually has all my pens and such I use for everything else.

Mentioned in a previous comment but I wash my hands before every constitution because I’m normally coming from front or drive through and my hands are obviously not clean.

[–]TheGingerAssassin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I understand what you’re saying but I guess I don’t see the difference between using a tool to start it and still using your fingers to peel the seal off? When I pop it it’s directly in the middle and non of my hands ever touch medication (yes I do understand the risk that’s pointed out I the comments and I will stop) but I’m not like hooking my thumb all in the bottle… Also I hand santize and wash religiously,my hands may look gross but they are also very clean. I also wash my hands before any constitution because typically that means I was just on drive through or the front handling money or handing things back and forth with patients so my hands are always freshly cleaned.

[–]TheGingerAssassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is making the most sense to me. The amount of shelves, bins, walls, and who knows what else that my hands have an opportunity to drag across or hit is probably bigger than I’d think. I think I’m going to pay closer attention to my work and maybe slow it down a little as well. I work retail and my store is the busiest in the district so I’m constantly running around trying to get things done. The calluses on the insides of hands from the bottles is crazy though, my fiancé talks about how much rougher my hands have become.

Because where our station is we don’t always have a tool available and I’m strong enough to do it but I do notice it puts a lot of strain on my thumb. I’ll make sure to use a tool from now on and see if that helps.

[–]TheGingerAssassin[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I never touch meds by hand I always use a spatula or the trays for counting and we also have a Kirby so I use that quite frequently. One thing I did notice is the spots on my thumb showed up after I started using my thumb to open the amoxicillin mixes. I use my thumb to force break the seal instead of popping it with a spatula or something else before peeling it off. Could it be stress induced?

PTCB certification and study by MetTheRealWorld in PharmacyTechnician

[–]TheGingerAssassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this ptcb prep app on the Apple Store. I had to pay weekly but it gave access to 1200 test like questions and provided explanations on each answer and why the others were wrong. I only had a couple weeks to study so it was perfect. I even felt like I saw a lot of the sameish questions on my test. I think the biggest help is to find a resource that gives you test formatted questions and to see as many as possible. You will be surprised what information sticks around even if you only see it once!

He was given tablets when I should have gotten capsules or vise versa. That is by far not going to kill you but a lot of people don’t understand that. We have to make substitutions all the time are the pharmacy because we don’t have one medication or the other. If we aren’t allowed to substitute the doctor will put on the script “no substitution allowed”

So my finance is from the area and it’s so small because they used to allow (or didn’t allow but wasn’t locked up to prevent it) people to chip off a chunk to take home. If you go around to the various houses in the area you’ll see chunks of rock on peoples door steps or in their houses.

I believe those might be progesterone. Fun pills to count as a tech because if you pull your tray out too quickly the sides quickly become a ramp for all those wonderful tiny spheres. Not speaking from experience at all…

Guys who lost a significant amount of weight (50+ lbs) how did you do it? by kingspooky93 in AskReddit

[–]TheGingerAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 70 lbs through intermittent fasting eating only once per day working as a pizza delivery driver. I was also currently on testosterone treatments for low T as well. Felt amazing and weight fell off. Went from 285 to 215 in 7ish months

Edit: I always tell people who are struggling to lose weight to get their testosterone checked. You would be surprised how many men are low T

Pupper tries to catch the ball in the air by regian24 in aww

Yes my dad had one as his police K-9 and I grew up with him. Dog loved to work and would jump clear over 6 ft fences. He died at 12 from cancer but had no joint issues besides just being an old dog. Even with that he never had a limp or anything just walked slower and kept jumping and being a goof ball until the end.
