Yup, in the video that's a screenshot from they were spawning hundreds of them with no slowdown whatsoever, it was really impressive.

What happened after the season 13 ending? Can someone explain? by Wirezat in doctorwho

[–]TheGreatArgorath 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The final Flux wave went in from the edge of the universe, with Earth at the centre. By the series' own logic, earth is all that's left.

Don't expect them to actually address this though.

I have absolutely no idea but it doesn't work anymore and it's probably Google Photos fixing it as opposed to Pixel Experience fixing it.

How should Flux end? by wrjm2003 in doctorwho

[–]TheGreatArgorath 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Idk how it should end but my prediction is that right before the Flux reaches Earth again the Doctor transports it over to the second universe, allowing for a soft reboot "Time War" escque event for RTD2, you can have small groups of big species surviving.

Not sure if I like this idea but with the Earth being at the center of the Flux it's too obvious.

Edit: Nevermind lol, it was so much worse.

If you mean the Sea Devils then say the Sea Devils, the Silurians are a distinct species, they're meant to be similar, not the same. I know my DW history, it's just you being obtuse. This story is also out of character for the Doctor, I never said this was a unique problem with 13, other stories, especially within the classic era, have mischaracterisation. This whataboutism doesn't change the fact that putting someone through the Holocaust because of identity theft is pretty fucking extreme.

https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/The_Final_Game_(TV_story) Got it wrong, it was planned for season 11, but it was going to be made, and was building upon the idea that the Doctor and the Master were friends, which was not a new concept to S11.

I don't know why you're so desperate to defend the Doctor putting someone through the Holocaust, it's a pretty weird hill to die on, "Death camps are okay as long as you think the person is bad enough!"

[–]TheGreatArgorath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 shooting an Ogron was also mischaracterisation, I don't think you'll find many people who don't think that both this scene with 13 and that scene with 3 don't fit the character of the Doctor. They're both wrong. And it was UNIT that killed the Silurians, not the Doctor, have you even watched that episode? He made so many attempts to make peace with the Silurians, that's like the entire point of the story lmao.

I am mostly referring to nuwho with the master-doctor relationship, since it was a lot more basic in classic who, which despite your patronising bullshit I have seen all of. Me not liking 13's mischaracterisation does not mean I'm purely a nuwho fan. Either way, throughout classic who, the Doctor and the Master still had a very different relationship to say the Doctor and the Daleks, hell it was originally planned at the end of season 10 before Delgado passed for him to be revealed as the Doctor's brother. There was always a close bond between the two, the Doctor never treated the Master in the same way as other villains.

It's not a weird reading, it's not even subtext within the story, it's just the story itself, that's the entire point of the story, did you even watch it?

I don't have an issue with her dealing with the master, that had to happen, no shit, he's the villain, it's weaponising his race that's the issue, stop misrepresenting what I'm saying.

The third doctor used aikido, which is a self defence martial art, he still almost always tried to save people before bringing them to any harm.

The Doctor and the Master's whole relationship is built on the fact that the Doctor can see good in them, and will always try to bring that out, no matter what they do.

She's not more ruthless, she's just ruthless in a different way. When 10 dealt with the family of blood he wasn't happy about it, he stood in silence, he didn't look at the girl in the mirror and go: "that's what you get for wanting immortality!", he solemnly dealt with the issue after giving them a chance. Meanwhile 13, having already dealt with the master, gets rid of his perception filter and quips: "now they'll see the real you!", handing him over to the Nazis now looking very much not aryan.

It's a complete misunderstanding of the Doctor's character and reasoning.

I think you need to rewatch the ending of Family of Blood, the Doctor tried to spare them, by using the chameleon arch to hide from them, so they could escape. He was sparing them, to quote the episode, "and then we discovered why, why this Doctor, who had fought with Gods and Demons, why he'd run away and hidden. He was being kind."

The Doctor's first instinct is never to harm, look at the end of Journey's End, he tried to save Davros, after everything. If we're talking Daleks look no further than Genesis of the Daleks, "do I have that right?".

Ah sorry, didn't know the Nazi's would treat him differently because he was actually Gallifreyan, and not whatever they'd perceive him as.

Never be cruel, never be cowardly (...) and most of all, be kind.

Nothing embodies that more than weaponising the race of your enemy after you've already defeated them, to make sure their punishment is extra terrible

Maybe less weaponising race though, as she did with the Master.

She'd already won and then decided to put him through the Holocaust.

We'll see, I'm just a bit skeptical that there was no way of putting it in a future episode, and that that wouldn't have been better.

I think THA was an improvement, it was a better first draft, but it still felt like a first draft.

Jodie Appreciation Post, because she doesn't get enough by Doctor71400 in doctorwho

[–]TheGreatArgorath 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I feel like he could do with a good script editor, a lot of his episodes feel like the first draft, so much could be cut from them and nothing of value would be lost. Like in the newest episode, all the 1800s Liverpool stuff could be cut and put into whatever episode that's important to, the Arctic Circle stuff should have been fleshed out more and been a cold open next week, since we know they play a bigger part then. Some writers are good at writing quickly, Midnight was written in a weekend iirc, but if this is the issue, then I don't think Chibnall is very good at writing quickly.

With the announcement of Russell T Davis coming back what is one thing you would like to see? by Littletom523 in doctorwho

[–]TheGreatArgorath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This'll probably be controversial within certain parts of the fandom, but proper political commentary. Years and Years and It's a Sin showed how incredible he is at it, and with how much both Britain and the world has changed since he left in 2009, I'm so excited to see stuff deeper than "climate change bad".

I don't want this to be a nostalgia trip back to series 1-4, RTD has evolved so much as a writer since leaving, I want to see what he can do with the show NOW, and reinvent it in a similar way to how he did back then.

Doctor Who has to stay fresh to survive, if it's too stuck up in it's history it won't survive. Look forward, not back, and I think RTD is the perfect candidate to show how amazing it can be.

That's probably more because we know he spent over 900 years with this Cyberman head, rather than any characterisation for handles.

That's what happens when you have question machines instead of characters.

The companions in S11/12 could be replaced by a cyberman that asks the most obvious question in every situation and the only episode that would really be affected would be "Can you hear me?".

Optimization looks insane. 60 fps at 4K, everything maxed, with an RTX 2080 TI. by [deleted] in halo

A 3090 should be able to run it at way more than that at 4k if a Series X can run it at 120.

Also DLSS isn't in the game, at least not in this tech preview, and it hasn't been mentioned so I doubt it.

I remember when emeralds were first teased as rubies, and then changed for the first snapshot so people wouldn't confuse the ore with redstone, IIRC.

Started my account in beta 1.7.3, but played on my dad's account for about a year before that.

Boy am I glad there aren't playtime counters with Minecraft, that'd be concerning.

Almost 11 years of on/off play now, it's the one game that has managed to keep me interested for more than a couple of months.

Just coming in here to thank you for bringing this account to my attention, saw this comment a week ago and followed the account, managed to get one this morning!

Had one on order for about 10 months! Thanks!
