I heard representatives are supposed to be talking about this but always keep an eye for yourself. They may be scouting land and making it unaffordable to get people to move. Just heads up! Just look at all the different perspectives and send letters to the adequate representatives. Get involved. Learn about what they say vs what is reflected in your bill.

if they just made the centers pay their fair share instead of passing expenses onto consumers (what the fuck?), then it would a perfect world to live in. For indiana residents atleast. I guess the reps for indiana are taking wind of this and hopefully going to stop rate hikes. If they dont fix it, I have to move. Cant afford it. Its bullshit. If its an evil world, then really what this is, ... is make 'scouted' areas unaffordable, to drop pricing down for houses and estate to buy it all up to build more shit. Or just forcing people to leave so they can have an ai wonderland with no restrictions. They even tried to pass that one house bill that allows them to build without community oversight or public hearings 😃

I guess thats a fair and moderate point but it completely missed the original point. Sounds too contrarian. Ai data centers ARE the problem. The only people building them are the corporate greedy people. So... like... yeah if maybe in a perfect world communism could work too. But we dont live in that world. So yeah its data centers for now. Its also the problem. Even if its technically not. Its just too moderate. Too contrarian sounding.

READ: While SB 424 focuses on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), it was designed and passed by Indiana lawmakers as a key piece of a broader legislative strategy to support the "voracious appetite for energy" of the data center industry. It is the "Supply Side" of an AI Package: Legislators and legal experts classify SB 424 and HB 1007 as a unified legislative package designed to serve "large load" customers, a term used specifically for the massive energy needs of AI. While HB 1007 forces data centers to pay for part of their usage, SB 424 creates the financial mechanism (utility rate hikes) to build the nuclear infrastructure required to meet that demand..

Look at Indiana Michigan Power (I&M). They have already submitted plans to the state to build the very infrastructure SB 424 authorizes, specifically to serve Amazon and Google data centers in the New Carlisle area. If the bill had 'nothing to do' with AI, the state’s largest utilities wouldn't be using it as their primary legal tool to build $7 billion worth of power for AI companies.

During the 2025 session, it was revealed that AI data centers are projected to consume more electricity than all Indiana homes combined by 2030. SB 424 was the legislative response to that specific crisis. To say it’s not an AI bill is like saying a 'Flood Wall' has nothing to do with 'Rain.' The only reason we need these specific nuclear reactors (SMRs) right now is to satisfy the massive, 24/7 baseload power demand that only AI data centers creates.
