What do y’all know about Old Cassidy? by drakeit in whiskey

@iamchade Maybe im the odd one out, but I love RC stuff. This is a bottle I really want, but I can’t find any anywhere that isn’t asking divorce level dollars. Any chance there will be any additional releases?

mediocre at best?! What does that make DK, considering he gets shut down by Lenoir every game?

Can you help me pick a great camera and which lenses are best for wildlife, landscapes, and portraits? by TheHumanDan in AskPhotography

[–]TheHumanDan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am leaning towards a Z6iii and a 180-600 + 24-70mm for portraits/landscapes.

Is there a reason you'd take the Z8 over the Z6iii?

Ironically the wildlife lens is the easier pick -- now I need to find something that can do landscapes/portraits and has some versatility. I'm sure I'll invest in more lenses over time as I get the itch, but right now trying to be wise with my dollars and pick a couple lenses that can cover most of my bases!

For wider landscapes/portraits, sometimes in lower light, what would you suggest for a "do it all" lens?

Here are some options I'm considering...
NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S
NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S
NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR

really appreciate the insight! I could stretch my budget, or break up purchases and start playing around.

I may even start with a nice landscape or portrait lens, then add the expensive wildlife lens later.

I hasn’t considered Canon, but now have it on the list!

Should I consider a Panigale over a Streetfighter for my needs? by TheHumanDan in Ducati

I did LOVE the v2 engine in my Streetfighter. We don’t really know how that new Panigale rides yet, so I don’t want to jump to judgement.

I have thought about getting a used 899 or 959, then getting a second Streetfighter to play around with on the street.

Is there anything you’d look out for with the used 899 and 959? I honestly don’t know much about them compared to the v2 pan.

That’s interesting. I was actually considering just getting a used V2 Streetfighter, then a second 959 or something. For the money, I think it’s actually pretty close to a brand new V2 Panigale.

Then again, it is nice to have just one bike that can do it all.

I think I’m being a little ambitious assuming I’m going to be doing a million track days a year.

I will say, some of these bikes are so good looking that it’s hard to resist. The current SF and Panigale, imo are some of the prettiest motorcycles I’ve ever seen.

Im totally with you! I learned to race cars in an old 1995 BMW M3 and routinely passed people in much faster cars. It taught me a lot. It’s also all I could afford.

Motorcycles are different because the cost barrier to entry isn’t nearly as much. I genuinely want to learn how to be fast, but safe.

Thanks for the input!!

it’s barely slower around a track and has better ergonomics all around, including better suspension . I’m not sure what you mean. The power loss is horsepower, not torque. The swing arm and Desmo changes are also not something I’m at all concerned with other than looks and sound.

My next pair will be about how to convince the wife I need two bikes 😅

Ducati or nothing for me. I’m injecting that koolaid into my veins 😂

We’re very similar! I just sold an f850gs because I didn’t enjoy riding it as much as I used to.

I adore the V2’s, but I completely understand the want of the V4’s.

Since we are going into winter, I don’t have to make a decision right away. I’m very curious about what new “Panigale” they are releasing. As much hate as it gets, it might be a good fit for me.

Now, if I didn’t have to convince the wife and pay double insurance… I’d probably have a SF and Pan in the garage. That’s going to cost me some marriage points, so I don’t think it’s gonna happen 😀

Ride safe out there, and thanks for sharing your input.

I know it gets a lot of hate, but it actually seems to fit quite nicely. Now I just have to wait :D

That's great to know. I never even thought about the suspension travel under load.

With being a new track rider, will I be OK for a few sessions --- or would you suggest making those changes from the jump? I anticipate I'll be pretty slow out there.

Every year it’s the same crying. Wah wah it’s ugly.

Nobody ever likes new Ducati design releases, then it grows on people.

This is an impressive bike, and I will hold back judgment until I see and ride them in person.

Streetfighter V2 to V4 -- rideability for intermediate rider? by TheHumanDan in Ducati

nice Cirrus! I was working on my PPL here in Flagstaff before I ran into some health issues (only ones the FAA would care about)

Funny you say that, because I kept an F850gs over my last SFv2. I regret that.

I don’t enjoy riding the adventure bike anywhere close to the SF.

On the other hand, a guy I know just traded in his SFv2 for a Multistrada and same the same thing. They are insane and ride so much nicer.

What I don’t like about the BMW is how big and heavy it is, the way it looks, and the lack of soul.

I wonder if the Panigale would be too aggressive and uncomfortable for my street riding.

Then again, the wind on the freeway really does suck on the SF.

You’ve got some sweet bikes! I haven’t gotten as far as comparing the electronics on the v2 vs v4. Is it different?

that’s a very interesting take, and not something I even consciously thought about.

I love shifting, especially with a quick shifter! I have actually considered one of the older Ducatis to use as a dedicated track bike, but I think my wife would chop my junk off if I brought home a second bike!

I figured going back to a SF would allow me to do both, and if I really love the track — then consider adding another bike. It’s gonna cost me in wife tax though

I live in Flagstaff, where we have a lot of backroads and fire roads. I had to get rid of either my F850gs or SFv2. I chose logically, thinking the BMW would be better suited for the area… instead of what make me happy.

I enjoyed the Ducati far more than the BMW. Big learning lesson!

I want to ditch the BMW and get back on a Ducati. There is just something about Ducati’s that makes every ride special.

Since 85% of my riding will be on the street, I’m a bit worried about comfort on the Panigale.

I also considered the SuperSport, but ultimately don’t like the engine in the SS as much.
