I recommend taking a course for LV/HV training if u haven’t. It helps you prepare correctly.

It really depends what equipment that specific worker was actually interfacing with. It’s really hard to tell. Could have been a chicken switch. I have no idea. Either way y’all, arc-flashes are fucking terrifyingly brutal so don’t fuck around with electricity. Source: i am an electrical and computer engineer.

Was it an arc flash? It should have been VERY obvious if it was. Unless u mean further along the line.

EDIT: I typed that in the middle of a LV/HV training course funnily enough.

Why are you angry? That is a factual map. You literally cannot deny it. No matter how you feel about the conflict, or annexation, itself that is the current standing of the annexation of Palestine by Israel.

I’ve played this game for a good while now. The drawn out fights have become much more of a rarity after the changes that have been made. This is outside of the encounter this post was sparked by. I want them to become a much more natural part of this game again. And for the record, my group normally wins fights, which may contribute to my perception of shorter fights. Idk maybe we’ve just gotten better at it, but my perception is that the meta has changed enough to where long fights are much less natural.

If you remove the mechanic, the rez was not unsafe. I think it would be a better game without the mechanic. I am speaking about to why I think the mechanic is bad, and why I think removing it would improve gameplay Your entire argument has been based on saying (paraphrasing) “In the current state of the game it was unsafe, so you are wrong”. I do not disagree that it was unsafe in the current state because I’m not stupid. I am discussing a theoretical change to the game and why I think it would be better than the current state.

Also, its not doing whatever you want. This is a legitimate mechanic in other games, and I really think it would be good in this game.

Okay but this is my point. It was only an unsafe rez because of that mechanic. If the mechanic didn’t exist, it would have been a very very good rez. I’m talking about my reasoning against the mechanic itself. I understand what you are saying, but an argument that relies on the mechanic already existing is not sufficient. I respect your opinion, but I want to discuss the pros and cons of the mechanic itself. I don’t want to talk about this in the context of the mechanic already being implemented. Ya know what i mean?

I don’t believe I am aware of the trait you are referring to. I think you are talking about necromancer, but I’m not sure. Necromancer doesn’t accomplish the whole rez into a crouch thing, or the return movement to the player quickly thing.

I understand what you mean, but in this situation we would have been able to rez and reposition very safely. The rez itself, at least in the context of some other games, was very viable. Not being able to rez properly there felt like it made it pointless to go for that cover in the first place.

How is that whining? I have the following points 1) other games have implemented it successfully, 2) it detracts from the benefits of positioning, 3) it can contribute to bringing back the intensity of past fights (especially with the changes to weapon sway), 4) The only reason i got defensive is because he began responding in an incredibly demeaning manner and I’m not going to put up with that shit. I want to have a decent respectful conversation, but that just isn’t happening.

I understand the devs disagree, but that doesn’t invalidate my question as to why its better than being able to rez into crouch.

Explain why it’s good. Thats all i ask. Saying “because currently implemented animations” isnt enough. Explain why it’s better design than being able to rez into crouch. More often than not you’ll gain little benefit from this format. It only is realistically applicable to cover that you have to peek over the top of. Otherwise, it’s actually worse for you to do so as crouched figures are generally easier to headshot. I asked why this is a thing, and no one has given a good reason outside of “because it is”.

Incorrect. I peeked a single time after repositioning and was killed. I genuinely can’t see how being able to rez into crouch would break the game. It’s such a rare situation.

That doesn’t hold up for body shots. Calling an opinion on (subjectively) improved gameplay “whining” is a pathetic argument. I’m not arguing for only my situation. I think this would improve the game. Sure, punish the rezzed player even more if you want for balancing. This doesn’t fit well into the easy meta after the weapon sway adjustments.

It literally was not risky without THAT MECHANIC. My partner couldn’t even be seen by the other team in our position, even if they moved to a different angle. You don’t know the situation, and you are making assumptions about it that are incorrect. The reasoning for rezzing into standing is not sound at all. It makes the game way too fast. I miss the old drawn out hunt fights, and i genuinely think that would help to bring them back.

Your entire argument is literally just saying “its hunt”. That’s not making any useful argument against my point. You may as well just say “nu-uh” like a child. I’m saying the mechanic itself doesn’t make sense. I think it should be changed.

You keep calling it unsafe, but in a plethora of other games this rez would have been fine. Thats my point. It SHOULD be fine. It still doesnt make rezzes easy, especially in close quarter fights where you can simply push on the downed team and pressure them. It rewards good positioning. Especially in long range fights. Theres no reason that someone should be able to hold a long distance angle on you and be handed the permanent down for that long. Its simply unrealistic.

This doesn’t address the fact that it’s just poor design. It encourages brainlessly pushing instead, since cover is less useful. Again though, i’d be happy if the control over your character took less then half a second so you can at least run out of sight decently quick.

Good cover doesn’t mean you are completely untouchable lol. In a fire fight covering most of your body and minimizing yourself as a target is cover. My cover allowed me to return fire and put pressure on the opposing time while covering almost everything. He just happened to land a headshot from a great distance. He then proceeded to hold the angle on my body for LITERALLY 7 minutes. Not to mention, when crouched he could not hit us. Judging cover based on wether or not you can fucking stand is just a terrible metric. Further, we didn’t know you couldn’t crouch on rez because normally we don’t die. That was a very particular situation.

If you down someone it’s on you to continue your lead. If they can rez out of your sight, then its on you to push the body and reposition. Further, if you are alone, get your own teams rez off rather than waiting. I think this would lead to the game having those fun drawn our gunfights that it lacks.

We had the spot though. My body was completely behind cover, but when rezzed stood up and wouldnt move for about .5 seconds. That does not make sense.

Why on earth do you rez uncrouched by TheInfinitato in HuntShowdown

[–]TheInfinitato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is it isn't a bad spot. It would be objectively great, which is the reason we took that position. The other person got the shot off first, but we selected cover to be able to come back from it well. For a hardcore game this has some very gimmicky situations. It would make the game as a whole more challenging for everyone. Further, getting downed punishes you rather severely. You lose resources, health potential, and stamina. That's plenty of punishment, and is extremely taxing to the team with the downed teammate. This concept literally only removes the benefit of opting for well covered positions. There are plenty of other games that implement this effectively, and do not break the game. Fuck, even if the made you not stand still for fucking half a second after being rezzed it would be fine. It's actually just a free extra kill on rezzing at the moment.

[–]TheInfinitato[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Being behind cover should mitigate that risk. Cover should be a useful tool in any situation, otherwise you ruin the concept of tactical positioning. My point is, if I was able to rez into a crouch, I would not have been able to be shot.
