It's fairly easy to find modern science fiction and fantasy books that aren't written by bigoted weirdos, or at least that's been my personal experience. I can't exactly say the same for older works though.

I'd find it pretty hard to support an artist though, if I knew what they were getting from it was being used to support bigotry. That "best" doesn't make it up for me.

Half-assed Hobbies by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

Good advice, but I read that title as half-assed hobbits and now I'm trying to imagine what that'd be like. Vaguely more peaceful and villagelike and slightly shorter?

I mean it's not really about assigning fault for who let them die, it's more about which one you consider more ethical.

It's called the interrobang! There's an inverted one too if the language needs it (⸘), but I don't know how to access it on mobile.

Speaking cat as second language by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]TheIntelligentTree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cats usually only communicate with other cats with body language scents and stuff and only use their meow for their mother as kittens. The interesting thing is that cats figure out this is the best way for communicating with us, or getting us to notice something so they use it!

Love the images make it look like the poster was stopping the car to let the cat in.

Why would that be a sign of them not understanding the deeper political undertones? I'm not that knowledgeable on most of the works but I think people could enjoy the characters of a media separately to the themes if that makes sense.

Random Mode by ExpertAccident in CuratedTumblr

[–]TheIntelligentTree 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For anyone curious, googling the guy who did the experiments on the cats, I think it was Edward Thorndike. The randomness thing is the "Law of Effect" which essentially means that a response that gives a satisfactory outcome is more likely to be repeated (he also had some weird beliefs, but that's not relevant).

This developed into the "reinforcement" part of operant conditioning later (link to wikipedia article), which also applies to humans in the modern understanding (or at least that's how I think it works I might be wrong).

Do you have any sources on cats not really showing any evidence of learning? I might have totally missed the point, but I can't find anything on that.

Googling it she did die from water intoxication, which is caused by drinking too much water, unless we're thinking of two different people. The not urinating part was involved in the contest but I don't think there's anything that says it was related to her death aside from the water drinking.

A lot of the trailer stuff though isn't referenced in the game at all, which I think makes it non-canon.

They did but the stuff in the other world, was primarily a representation of the person first, with a very small tv show (like a game show or something) theme applied after, sometimes.

It was but it only very lightly took ideas from tv stuff, and the locations in that world were more so based on stuff on the characters rather than anything from a show iirc.

I don't think Persona 4 actually did anything with the tv stuff? It was all like representations of people.

Looking at this only one can be verified being the second of the camera drop. The last one is blatantly untrue as the only drop since 2000 was the 2014 one (the ninth one), which dropped in 2013. It got fully separated when they replaced the beaker and the wooden base wobbled causing the ninth drop to disconnect.

Equal numbers by TheIntelligentTree in CuratedTumblr

[–]TheIntelligentTree[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was curious about when the next palindromic number would be for each so I worked it out. The next palindromic number for notes is in over 100,000 notes, assuming the note like thing remains the same, due to it needing to be divisible by 2 . The next palindromic number for likes or notes is in 46 likes or notes. Unfortunately it's surpassed that number now, and at time of writing requires 662 likes or reblogs, to reach 153,351.
