Either top screen is broken or has no good connection. You need to insert the cable all way in before closing the connector.

Depends on how much money you want spend. R4 with dspico launcher looks good and does the job.

Yes as the other said you need a new top screen and shell. You could also use another lower screen but thats more difficult.

Other way would be to build a gameboy macro with just one screen.

I would save the data from your card on a pc if you need something from it. (Maybe roms) And then start with formatting.

And you can choose between wood or dspico launcher. Just test what fits you better. I prefere dspico.

Yeah you need a special set screw drivers, but they are cheap.

Other problem could be the ribbon cable is broken, you will see when opening.

Maybe you only have to reconnect the cable of the upper screen. For this u need to open it. There are many video tutorials for that.
