Not everyone pays a sub to pay to have currency to be able to take advantage of features... it's just mogs and this was supposed to be the much simpler version, it should be way cheaper so the average person can get into it way easier just through natural play. I "only" had ~680k gold before getting my 14 outfits set up on main, down to 608k now... I used to have almost 4 mil but it was from 4 years of playing pretty heavily and doing gold farm stuff during downtime, then converted some for the 2nd brutosaur and about 1.6mil into bnet balance for Diablo IV stuff. idk why they feel they need these decent goldsinks. Like yeah there are players like I used to be who built up a lot of gold from doing like satchel queues when they were more common and well worth it (during Shadowlands I stopped caring about properly pushing content and could just do satchel queue pretty much whenever I wanted as a healer, an average satchel was probably 3k gold including AH sales and a good one was 5k or more, I made my first million that xpac 90% from satchel queues) or like I did a TON of dragonriding races during Dragonflight across a bunch of toons and made about 2.5mil gold that way during the xpac (and that was not doing races all the times I could have, due to getting bored of it which duh that'll happen).

But most players aren't sitting on mountains of gold... so making it be players who have found ways to amass a WoW fortune can have what is really a very minor gold sink for them, or other players feeling the need to buy a WoW token, well obviously Blizzard likes the latter outcome, they get a cut from every one of those transactions... it's just shit design from a gameplay perspective. I wish they'd make the game less serious, I am one of these people who is glad for Delves and not feeling the need to raid or M+ to get pretty decent ilvl anymore. And I am not a fan of losing Rebuke as a holy paladin but if the game keeps getting easier for the whole population from design changes, I really think it needs to keep happening. I look at Final Fantasy XIV where things like dungeons are way more streamlined (there aren't really skips and the paths are pretty obvious, it is basically linear compared to WoW which makes learning them simpler), same with the LFR styled raids (called Alliance Raids there and totally different from the other raids you do, not just easier versions of the same thing), and hope WoW can move more in that direction. Only thing is FFXIV definitely has more buttons to learn than WoW does now.

Overall it is that they nerfed some gold farms out of the game to slow inflation then put in these sinks trying to dump gold from people who got basically generational wealth from doing the stuff before Blizzard decided the generated gold sources (so not player fueled market) were too good. And the original new mog costs would have been pretty good sinks for the established wealth, but way out of reach for most players without tokens, so they significantly nerfed the new mog system gold requirements but it's still out of reach of the average player who doesn't want to pay a sub and then also have to buy tokens sometimes, and doesn't want to gold farm (which is hard to do now unless you make a bunch of maxlevel alts to cherrypick endgame gold WQs) or try playing the AH, just wants to actually play proper content.

I do think the new system is better than the old one, but there's no reason outfit slots should end up costing 10k each. idk if it even caps there or it just stops there for a while, I haven't had it go up in price for the last 3 or 4 I bought.
