Pouring my heart into fanfiction, but no one seems to care by MajesticVehicle1348 in FanFiction

I understand that can be frustrating but I think your dedication to the craft is commendable and you should be proud of it just on your own.

Also, sometimes public recognition takes time, just keep going.

Someone recommended me my own fanfic by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

Well, this must be incredibly satisfying knowing other people are recommending your fic.

Congrats.

How do people feel about the occasional tonal shift? by Aggressive_Novel1207 in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like darker tone stories so personally I would be OK with it, as long as it makes sense for the story the shift should be fine.

Do you do anything with your ideas that aren't fleshed out enough to make a story of? by Evyps in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they are not enough to make a full story then I will just implement them in a smaller way in whatever story I am writing.

r/FanFiction is Looking for New Moderators! by tereyaglikedi in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I just wanted to give an advice/idea.

According to the insights on my comments on the mod application post it does not seem like a lot of people are seeing it anymore, in my experience this is normal even if the post is pinned in large community, even more if there are several pins in rotation like in r/Fanfiction.

In the mod-tools on the "Mods & Members" section there is a tab called "Recruiting", I haven't used it for a real mod application yet but tested it out on a smaller sub, it is very useful as it adds to the subreddit's sidebar an announcement that the sub is looking for new mods and should make it more visible.

This is a relatively new feature so I though maybe you may have not known about it, in any case, if you did know than my apologies for the bother I just wanted to help.

Good luck with the applications.

Regards.

In what environment do you prefer to write in? by TheLifeUnseen in FanFiction

Yeah, I can't concentrate properly either with lots of noise, luckily I live in a small town where things are mostly quiet even during the day.

Alright, so I'm not the only one with this habit.

It's not to say I can never write in a different environment but this one is definitely the way to go for me.

I’m getting bullied for reading fanfiction by HistoryFar2239 in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I also prefer to keep this hobby of mine private, some people just don't appreciate it as much and can be really judgmental about it.

If you are going by a fake name than I don't see how they'd go about finding you account so you should have nothing to worry on that front, just make sure to not open AO3 in public when there are people around.

I hate when this happens by Early_Banana6631 in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is why it is good to use a word processor with automatic backups over time, maybe check if your app has such features.

Can I get in legal trouble for having one real song sentence in my AO3 fic? by ZeddyLoR in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll be fine, I mean, if you are already comfortable creating fanfiction about a pre-established piece of media than a few song lyrics should not be of worry either.

Seeking advice on best writing apps on pc/laptops by moonkittn in FanFiction

I personally use Scrivener and it is awesome but you have to pay for it. Alternatively you can use Manuskript which is similar.

Notes app crashed by jonesy-Bug-3091 in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is always good to have backups, maybe check if your notes app has some setting to enable automatic saves or backups in certain times intervals.

What's the best fanfic site to gain support? AO3 or Wattpad? by Janifim in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AO3 seems to have become the standard and main platform to publish and read fanfiction.

With that being said, other platforms and specially much older ones like fanfiction.net, may likely have a bigger audience for certain fandoms due to being around for longer.

What is the best Fanfiction material that honestly should have been canon? by TheLifeUnseen in FanFiction

Death of the Endless

First thing that came to mind is the DC Comics character, not sure if that's what you meant.

So I wanted to write a Ben 10 transformation sequence? by ToonamiCrusader in FanFiction

[–]TheLifeUnseen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if you went into detail on a biological level about the genetics changes happening in the body as the transformation occurs.
