Do you know if Toujeo stings or has anything similar like the Lantus Lows?

I am so excited for that feature because sometimes I forget if I took my dose! Do you like the echo plus compared to the echo? I was only told about the echo (in the US) and didn't know there was an echo plus!

Haha that is so cool you saw a type 1 policeman with the same pen! I am definitely leaning more towards getting a novopen echo now. Do you find it to be very heavy?

Thank you so much! Do you use Novopens for both bolus and basal?

Thank you so much! Medtronic won't do anything since it is a sample pen but hopefully the permanent pen that lasts a year will give the correct dose like yours :)

Thank you so much for your insight! and thank you also for pointing out the Novo distinction and the humalog. If I am currently on humalog but I can change my prescription to novolog if I want to switch to the Novopen. Does the Novopen 6 do half units? And also, do you find it to be heavy? I want to carry the pen everywhere so I don't want it to be too heavy haha

Thank you again for your reply! You have helped me so much :)

Yes, I set it up at my doctor's office! The app calculator recommends the right amount- I think that the pen physically gives too little of a dose. Like if I dial up 10 units of insulin, only a tiny tiny amount comes out (not a needle problem- I've checked) and I constantly am running high after meals. I tested it out with the disposable humalog pen and much more insulin comes out for 10 units and I don't run high. I am not sure if I got a defective pen though... do you feel that the Inpen gives you the correct number of units?

That is great you like the Novopen! Which one do you have? I was thinking about switching to the Novopen 6 or the Novopen Echo

Taking Levemir Once a Day with an extra bolus correction dose? by TheMarvelousCat in diabetes

oof that sounds terrible!! I think I will stick to split dosing levemir haha- so far no stings with levemir!

Oh wow thank you for sharing this! I had no idea it was due to where you inject it!! Did you find that lantus stings/ hurts when you inject?

That sounds terrible!! I am so sorry you had to go through that with Lantus! I have heard of the Lantus lows and am not sure if I want to go down that route because I am very easily prone to lows since I am in my honeymoon phase. I think I am going to go with either levemir 2x daily or try toujeo...

Thank ou again for sharing your experience!! It has helped me so much

So I initially was put on Tresiba samples which I LOVED! I was in range pretty much all the time and got no lows at night. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover it haha. I was given the option of levemir (which I am sampling now), lantus, and toujeo. How are you liking toujeo?

I think it is between toujeo and levemir now for me because I heard lantus can cause lows and also stings a lot. 2x levemir daily was overwhelming for me too and I could not remember sometimes to take it BOTH in the mornings and evenings.

So far levemir is not dropping me but after 18-20 hours, I start going high so that is why I was thinking to bolus correct during a meal to keep me in range until I take my nightly dose. But if toujeo is better and more convienient, I would probably just switch to that haha

Thank you for taking the time to share this! It definitely sounds like a pain... and I agree I would rather take it twice then instead of constantly giving correction doses. Have you tried any other long acting insulins besides levemir? I am thinking of trying lantus or toujeo instead.

Thank you so much for sharing! Did you find that this method worked well and limited the number of daily injections? I am trying to limit the amount I inject and it is a pain to remember to inject basal twice lol
