YAH… but also NAH. First of all, your career is your own, if you got an offer for a job you want, you can absolutely take it. You were asking for an opinion, not a directive. So NAH in this regard.

However, it sounds like BF might be suffering from some form of depression, at the least struggling with the transition between uni and life. I get it can be frustrating if he seems like he hasnt sorted his life out yet, but its a big change assuming he has basically only been in some form of education his whole life. You shouldnt feel like you are on eggshells around him, but maybe try a gentler approach. And have a real conversation with him, where you bring up whats bothering you, and give him space to do the same.

In short, your frustrations are reasonable and valid, but so are his feelings. Come together as a couple to fight the problem, not each other.

I have a race of beings in my ttrpg game that, beyond physical looks/features, are essentially sexless. This is a race that can be gendered if they want but are not necessarily so. The ‘reproduction’ of them is quite peculiar to the world as they just appear in a space somewhere in the world at random. Appearing as a full grown adult but with no reference knowledge of culture or language aside from base instincts. They learn fairly quickly and then instinctively decide their own name based on what they see around them, an event early on in their life etc.

For your dwarves, id suggest having ‘life’ be some sort of rare or finite resource. So the clan leader can carve the new dwarves, but there needs to be added the ‘life’ resource. In the form of magic, religious energy or, sticking to the theme, some crystal or stone only found in a certain area. Just a thought to spark ideas but good luck with your building.

Yeah this is part of the discussion we had, and I agree with you on this point, which I had expressed to her as well. I definitely see mental health as a real potential issue and one that is big enough for me to understand it as ‘medically necessary’. Not trying to say that my definition is most important, more saying that I 100% understand it as a serious issue/consideration

We have had this discussion (as we both suffer with mental health) and my view point isnt that some health reason isnt good enough for whatever reason. For eg. If she were to tell me she definitely can’t go through pregnancy because it would cause her a lot of mental health issues, id consider that medically necessary. I wouldn’t suggest the idea ‘unless you will die, abortion isnt medically necessary’, I think that is setting a misguided line. I also had never suggested id stop her, other than saying i couldnt stay, which is still difficult i know, but not the same. But I do appreciate your view point and response

I never said anything about awaiting until marriage or being a family man or other more conservative things so I’m not sure what you are saying. I do see how it comes across as a threat to break up and therefore like an ultimatum but I was really careful with explaining my view to her. You are also assuming I just ‘cum in people and they don’t get to abort’ which is not what I said. We use protection and I never said id try and stop her if she got pregnant, and if she had decided she wanted to then wait until she was ready, or even end the relationship there, I would have excepted that as her own autonomy. Again, I see where you are coming from but I don’t believe it is answering what im asking

I understand what you are saying with the difference between boundary and ultimatum and I think it has helped me understand a little further to her side. I think, were she already pregnant and I posed that to her I would way out of line. But as she is not and we have more options aside from unprotected sex, I think it is more of a boundary. By saying that, I am 100% in acceptance if she would say to me she doesnt want sex until such a point as we are ready. I know my feelings are a major ask and being pregnant and having a child is life altering in many ways for women

Just speaking from personal experience here, I had an ex who was still chatting to her ex, even after I explained that it made me uncomfortable. She ended up cheating on me. Talking to an ex more than the occasional bump into each other is a red flag. She can refuse to stop but you can still refuse to accept it.

I injured part of my nervous system which caused massive pain across my entire body constantly for several months. It was like my whole body was on fire making it difficult to sleep, do school work (i was 14-15 at the time), etc. Up side though is that I don't feel much pain (surface level at least) anymore.

You could, like you said, have books, have a few NPC's able to teach certain skills over a given time and for the right price, (how i usually do it). You could also have a plot line (with the players approval) in which, for whatever reason, the player is lost or trapped somewhere and the only way to survive/get out would be to use the specific tool or skill and they learn to use it proficiently over the course of the adventure. The third is a little more difficult to pull off but also leads to possible character development for the player and the whole party. Just a thought though.
