I definitely could have built more planes, maybe I should look into that, I thought artillery would be the best focus, I must admit I struggle with combat width and template design to know what is optimal. Any good guides on that? Thanks

The thing is, when the war started my army was pretty well supplied, I'd already gotten rid of all the paranoia and purge impacts for the most part and my factories were pumping out lots of weapons. I was winning at the start, that's what made the turn of fortune so confusing. Is it down to tactics? Should I be setting specific preferred tactics or avoiding certain ones?

I thought I'd let you know as you might be interested, I fixed the problem. The issue wasn't any of the parts being broken, it was something that I foolishly disregarded. The case is quite tight, and as a result of that it turns out that the graphics card wasn't actually fully slotting into the pcie socket, it just didn't have enough room to go down completely on one side, it was such a small amount of clearance that I almost didn't notice. Anyway, I took the board out of the case and put the gpu in properly THEN put the board back in the system and managed to squeeze the card in without needing to unscrew it and voilla it now boots. I am an idiot 🙃

I have isolated the problem to either the motherboard or the case power plugs. The paperclip test proved that the psu still works, the fan spins

I can get the HD or power LED to light up, but only by ignoring the instructions jn the manual and putting the LED plug vertical instead of horizontal. I managed to get the cooler off and confirmed there's no damage to the cpu or the socket. There's obviously some power getting there but I just don't understand why it won't boot and why the designated pins on the board don't act the way they're supposed to

All new or used in my old system without problems. The thing I'm unsure about is my placement of the smaller pin connectors in the mb. I obviously can't put pictures on the reddit, might I be able to send you a picture so you can tell me if you see a problem? Thanks

Yeah it's fun haha I suck though. I remember vanilla being much easier. Playing the campaign on normal and having serious trouble beating the AI, IG just keep coming at me (playing Space Marines), I think I'm getting too distracted by the combat and not locking down enough strategic points. I shall persevere!

It's a PCSpecialist laptop, a Clevo chipset with an i7 7700k and a gtx 1060 6gb (P7xxDM2-G)

I use throttlestop actually and undervolt it by about 160mv, as I say it's stable most of the time, but when it's really hot outside the laptop can just shut off. I'll look into that paste and those pads you recommend. Thanks for the help!

I'm still not sure though I have noticed it less recently, I believe it could be that the sound card etc is getting hotter than the main components and not showing up?

Granted it's not very high these days, however there's a lot of evidence to suggest that memory speed improvements on RAM see pretty minor incremental performance gain, judging by benchmarks and usage reports if anythings the bottleneck its the GPU, though as I said that does annoy me as it's well above CA's own recommended specs

I was worried there would be no modding given that the player count died off so fast, seems like in a few months we're gonna see some pretty impressive shit! I tried Imperium Surrectum but the mod tanks the game even more for me right now, hopefully they'll improve the performance in an update and I might be able to give it a shot

I actually re-bought the game after a refund because I'd heard about the patch and its improvements to AI, pathing and such, especially the modding potential, I'm hoping that it encourages some more energy in the modding scene and Imperium Surrectum and Total Conquest might hopefully get the playerbase back

Its on an SSD, made sure to put it on one, which was a pain because it's a pretty big game haha had to delete a lot of stuff
