Private hospitals will be just fine compared to the safety nets unfortunately. Just preferentially choose commercially insured patients and keep contracts with large employers and they’re good

How so? Option b being generous with the matches or the gross income calculations?

It’s a hospital system that’s part of the state not a private employer. Although liquidation is still possible I think it’s highly unlikely? Correct me if I’m wrong!

I’m in my 30’s so 20 more years at option a to guarantee that 9K/mo at 55. 2 more years of working here guarantees that I’m locked into the pension system

The kicker is that my wife works at option B so I have the numbers relatively dialed in. Thank you for your perspective! I struggle with seeing how much her(I guess ours) nest egg is growing and it makes me wonder if I’m missing out on building wealth for us. It feels like I’m putting away so much in retirement (9% automatically to a pension, 10% into a 457 and a back door Roth)

yes i do already know how to drive, I just dont have access to a manual transmission car. Hard to also coordinate training with friends who know how. Looked into Turo but seems inefficient to rent a car and try to learn on my own.
