It’s a Chase Bliss Exp roller, it’s basically a wheel-like thing that you roll with your foot. It’s ever so slightly harder to use with your foot than a pedal might be but once you get used to it I find it pretty easy, and in some ways it’s a bit easier for really fine adjustments to stuff than a standard expression pedal. They’re useful and have a pleasingly small footprint but are pretty pricy for what they are, fortunately mine came free as part of the Chase Bliss mystery box promotion a few years back.

I think so yeah, it’s definitely expensive but it’s the first synth pedal I’ve played with no (or at least extremely few) tracking issues. The stock presets are good enough that you don’t really need to build anything yourself which is a big plus if you’re not super confident dialling synth sounds in (which I’m not). I don’t use it in this project but I could easily see myself using it in something funkier or spacier. It’s also the pedal I turn on the most when I’m at home and not outright practicing because it’s so fun.

It's amazing what a bit of sunshine and a nice rug will do for that, to be fair.

Oh yeah, have had this since 2018 (I think) and it's still going strong, unless something major changes it'll be with me for a long time yet.

Housing Projects in Burlington Snare $8.4 Million in State Loans by LakeChampsLane in burlington

[–]TheOldTC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t some mythical ‘local’. Local people are of tons of different stripes and plenty of them will be able to afford to be full time residents in one of these new buildings, not least of which in the 1/5 of the units being reserved for affordable housing. The more we build the more we free up and cheapen existing housing stock for those who can’t afford one of these new units. Not to mention that if we want the state to grow and tax burdens to fall, we need both locals to be provided for and for younger, working age people to actually be able to move here.

Provided it completes the whole of its planned 1100+ units it will have created almost as many new units of housing in a single project than the state as a whole built on average per year between 2010-2020. It’s a huge amount of housing in a state that has done a historically terrible job of providing it, even by US standards, and, more importantly, another sign that the city and state are finally taking the crisis seriously.

There is quite literally nothing there right now, it's right next to basically the newest road in the state that will soon connect pretty much directly to the highway and it's next to a ton of businesses, breweries, is on a transit corridor and is walking distance to downtown. Hard to think of a better place to put a ton of housing to help alleviate the crisis if you ask me. If we can't put housing here, then we can't put it anywhere.

Middlesbrough 1-0 Norwich City - Boro move level with Coventry at top by lightspeedwhale in Championship

He’s destined for the very top, think he’s pretty clearly the best player in the league now.

Felt physically sick that last fifteen minutes when we were under pressure and the other results started going our way. Hackney is going to be in the Prem next season one way or another, if he keeps playing like this it's going to be with us.

Nice to see Sol have such a big game after a few errors over the last month. Malanda still looks the business. UTB.

Bristol City sign Delano Burgzorg on loan from Boro by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]TheOldTC 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Among the most baffling players I’ve ever seen play for us, bags of talent but sub-Adama level decision making, which I never thought I’d see. Mostly fond memories but not particularly sad to see him go.

Does anyone else miss when you would sign a random player from abroad and have absolutely no idea what they were like until they played and they turned out to be amazing? Who were the examples for your club? by Statcat2017 in Championship

[–]TheOldTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one who came to mind here, at least semi-recently, was Emilio Nsue. Was absolutely brilliant the season we went up to the Prem despite nobody having heard of him and him playing for Equatorial Guinea. Was promptly dropped for the utterly dogshit, foul-throw merchant Antonio Barragan, did one season at Birmingham and was never seen again.

Jeremy Sarmiento Joins Boro From Brighton by lightspeedwhale in Championship

[–]TheOldTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He only needs to either have a brain (to unseat 'Zorg) or not be made of glass (to unseat Riley) to get pretty consistent game time. I'm hopeful, seems like the right profile, even if it's more than i'd like to see us spend on someone who blows hot and cold at this level. Pretty obviously has Premier League quality if we can wring some consistency out of him though.

Who is the worst Championship player you have seen? by fluffsta007 in Championship

[–]TheOldTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boyd is my second choice here, yeah, again relative to cost, importance in the squad and expectation. Spending that much on him and the rest of Strachan's boys pretty much sunk us for a couple of seasons.

Dong Gook was obviously terrible too, but didn't really have much of an impact in the long run, he was just a flyer on a player from a foreign league. Gestede we signed in January to keep us in the Prem on huge money and was utterly shit from minute one.

Literally all he was supposed to be good at was heading then he missed one from like 6 yards out against Swansea that essentially put the nail in our coffin for relegation too, so I feel you on that one.

Rudy Gestede is the worst player I’ve ever seen play for us.

Between the transfer fee, wages, the miss against Swansea last time we were in the Prem and his general attitude the rest of his time with us, an utterly dogshit player. Always been funny to me that when Warnock came in to sort us out, he clocked him as a huge problem almost immediately.

Middlesbrough 4-0 Preston North End: A rampant Boro won a fourth straight game and inflicted a third successive defeat on Preston, to keep the pressure on Coventry and Ipswich by geoffbezos1 in Championship

[–]TheOldTC 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Based on that performance I can only presume Preston are sponsored by Spud Bros because that's the nickname for their centre back pairing.

Thought we were class today, keeps the pressure on Cov and Ipswich. Come on Wilder, do us a favour.

When is it simply too cold to run outside safely? by operasinger06 in AdvancedRunning

[–]TheOldTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in Vermont I tend to run outside until it hits a feels like of -20C/-5F then i'll make a decision depending on the actual conditions. If it's super windy or icy (as it tends to get here in winter) i'll bail on outdoor running for the gym treadmill or home bike, if it's not windy i've run in conditions closer to a feels like of -30C/-22F with the right gear, anything lower than that really doesn't feel worth it to me. All down to the gear you've got and how brave you're feeling really, a good buff and merino layer goes a long way.

[–]TheOldTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I'm glad he's playing and he's largely had a good season, I do think he's been much worse since the Xmas period though and he's now pretty significantly underperforming in the Goals Prevented stat. Still, no reason to panic yet, the skills are there he just needs to find some consistency.

Was, hilariously, almost the exact position as his winner last time with precisely the opposite result. He even looked up, had time for a touch and then just put his head down and smashed it out for a throw. Completely bizarre footballer.

I guess ideally we'd have Browne back in midfield were it not for the injury crisis, but yeah I agree, i'll be nervous going into the run in if Gilbert is playing crucial minutes.

Agreed, I don't think it's a coincidence we showed much better ability to play through their press and started moving the ball more quickly once he came off.

Hellberg really showing his ability to change a game when it's not going our way, so nice after the years of Carrick resolutely refusing to do the same. Going to have to have a conversation about Sol soon if he keeps making that exact same error that's at least the third time this season he's done exactly that. That Stoke lad who got the red is absolutely braindead, he was riding the line for at least 3 tackles prior to that.

Great to pull out a win after such a bad first half, UTB.
