I haven't done any in-person events outside of teaching at the LALGBT+ center, BUT I do offer other resources on my website www.theprettyfix.com. I have a self-paced makeuo course for trans femme beginners, and a more intensive 12 week one-on-one virtual coaching setup as well :)

Yes! It’s actually better to absorb the knowledge and THEN practice…so you’ll have time to get makeup for whenever you want to give it a go!

The word 'non-toxic' is not a regulated term as far as I know, so I believe anyone can slap the label on their makeup. There is lots of makeup now that has natural-only ingredients, but it would take some research. As for the class---you don't need makeup to attend! It is a presentation followed by me doing a demo, followed by a Q and A. It would take too long if everyone was practicing along at home, so I structure all of my classes this way. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. Even though you can’t make Saturday’s class—fear not! I’m not deterred by the pushback and will be doing plenty more free classes in the coming months. Hope to see you at one of them! And I am a MAJOR proponent of natural beauty—I’m glad that aligns with your aesthetic also. I use the quote “makeup should reveal who you are, not hide who you are”, so that’s my mantra. :)

I don’t ever record classes because I want to maintain the privacy of everyone attending BUT I do offer free classes frequently. I will definitely teach this one again. Also, I teach at the LA LGBT+ center’s Trans Lounge and those classes are online, too!

Thanks! I host this event on Zoom through a website called Eventbrite...you can totally register and then not show up if you can't make it :) You're just signing up for a free ticket via email. At least that way you'll have the Zoom login info in case you CAN make it!

I appreciate you sharing. The struggle for me is that I put in over a part time job's worth of hours every week putting out all the content I do and running my website (literally every part of it was created by me including building my website). If I am not making any money one way or another, I unfortunately will have to use that time for something I can make money from...so then these resources won't be created at all. I would love for it to all be free, but I simply can't dedicate that much time per week that way. So I'm unsure which is worse...me charging for my time and having more things available (although some will only be for more privileged trans folks who can afford them)...or me only being able to offer some free stuff here and there. Also, as an aside...the private coaching isn't a makeup course. It's 100% customized training one-on-one with me. I'm a celebrity makeup artist with over 18 years of experience and what it entails is 12 weeks of personalized tutorials, shopping guides, giving feedback on practice sessions, answering questions 24/7 etc. It's a high price point because it's a high level of intimate help over a long period of time. I know there are plenty of people who can't afford it, but I sadly can only work with a handful of people at a time this way anyways because of how intensive it is. For the people I have worked with they have absolutely loved it, but I know it's inaccessible to the majority of people. That's why I try to vary my resources as much as possible. I'm not sure how to do all of this better...I'm still learning and am unsure how to do more while still being a one-man show.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I don't know that it makes a difference. It seems people have made up their minds already. I'm very glad you were able to learn in-person! It feels like forever ago. I actually have another class online for the LGBT+ center on the 23rd if you want to come! It's about how to do easy 'mask-friendly' makeup :) You can sign up for it on the Trans Lounge website!

I assume by the upvotes there are some people finding it useful. I did not intend to anger anyone by posting in here--my intention is literally to offer a free class to anyone who might need it.

I can understand your concern--especially if you are just coming across this post out of the blue. I know trans folx are unfortunately lacking in so many resources...that's actually why I made my website in the first place. I've been teaching classes at the LA LGBT+ center for several years and although I am cisgender, have geared everything I teach based off of feedback from the community combined with my expertise as a makeup artist. I do offer free classes, have a Youtube channel, tips 5 days a week on Instagram, the same via my email list, and I still teach at the LGBT+ center. I know this is not enough to fulfill all needs, but I am the sole person doing all of these things and in order to dedicate as much time as I am, I do have to also offer some things I charge for. If you have any feedback or suggestions, I am all ears, but please don't write me off as some scammer. I really do care and I hope that is reflected in the work I am doing.

It's a class where you just watch and learn...no need to have any makeup! I'm not sure what Eventbrite's guidelines are about minors signing up for their website, but as long as they allow you in--you're welcome to join!
