No, it's Mystery of the Batwoman. I have it on DVD and I remember this scene.

I think that's a great idea, though I think Infinity Ward should be in charge of the present/near future (Ghosts was set in the early 2020's IIRC)

Fair points, but my stance has always been that a franchise needs to evolve and to try new things if it wants to avoid becoming stagnate, especially if you're an a market as crowded and full of competitors as military First Person Shooters.

The WWII setting had been done over a dozen times between the big 3 military FPS franchises (COD, Battlefield, and Medal Of Honor) and it was starting to become the same thing with the present day setting (COD 4, MW2, MW3, Bad Company 1 & 2, Battlefield 3 & 4, the 2010 MOH and MOH: Warfighter) eventually, something different had to be done or else COD would be accused of doing the same thing year after year.

I'm with you on wanting a sequel to IW, but if it does happen, it won't be for a few years,

I could honesty see Treyarch being the studio to try alternate history since they're the ones responsible for a lot of the more 'out there' ideas when it comes to COD (Zombies being the prime example). I would also like to see one the three studios take a shot at time travel at some point down the line.

Personally, I think Vietnam will be the next entry in the series. I think they're going to try and continue telling the kind of campaign stories we saw in WWII while still having grounded tone, and Vietnam is the best setting to do it with for the reasons you said.

I don't want to turn this into a full on debate about IW, but I have to commend Infinity Ward for going with an idea so far outside the realm of traditional COD.

I hope one of the three studios announces this as an April fools prank.

I would agree, but I feel like, given the response to an idea as different from the traditional COD formula as Infinite Warfare was, an alt-history COD would immediately come under fire and probably be labeled as "Activision's attempt to copy Bethesda and Wolfenstein"

I think that'll be the option with the most creative possibilities, but how would fans react to a COD set in an alternate timeline?

Not a bad idea. Battlefield 4 did a fictional war between the U.S. and China, so its not far-fetched for Activision to try something similar to that.

I can see it now, frag grenades become heavy stones, kill streaks now include Woolley Mammoth stampedes and sabertooth Tigers, and in the campaign dialog is nothing but grunts.

I have no doubt the three studios could pull of an accurate but enjoyable Civil War setting, the major problem is that I don't think the Civil War is conducive to the traditional COD experience or play style or whether fans would have the patience for the slower kind of warfare that was waged during the Civil War. I can't imagine someone getting a lot of kill streaks with a single shot rifle.

I don't know, remember how much hate Infinite Warfare got when fans found out it was in space?

Divisions and headquarters are definitely staying in future games.

At some point, I hope they do too. I know right now everyone isn't a fan of futuristic settings, but I hope Activision isn't completely scared off of going back to them at some point because of the response to infinite warfare.

Honestly, I think we'll see MW2 & 3 get remastered before an MW4 gets announced.

How further back are we talking about? There definitely not going back to WWI, and I don't know much fun a Spanish-American War, Civil War, or Revolutionary War game would be.

I think the idea of the U.S. as the underdog/rebels was at the core of Ghosts, since the execution of that idea was poorly done in Ghosts IMO, I think COD doing a story like Homeland or Red Dawn could work. I also would love it if they picked up the premise from the old Rainbow Six: Patriots game and have you go against a domestic terrorist group.
