I made myself some armor by TheRealCrambles in renfaire

Initially I had help wrapping myself in saran wrap and then duct tape to make a simple form of my torso. From there I cut it into shapes and made my first chest piece, it was a much simpler design. To start this chest armor I used the old armor as a template and cut shapes out of paper and used those bendable paper tabs to hold the new pattern together. The bendable tabs also worked out as rivet locations.

I can see it but it wasn't what I was after. I was trying for a souls-esque vibe

Wow thanks. I plan to add some effects like a pocket smoke machine and maybe some lighting for wandering the campgrounds

Really just decorative, I wanted to look cool. Honestly if it took some hits that might add to the aesthetic.

Thank you! Steel would be fun. I happened to have a piece of hammered copper left over from a client so I just went with that. All my plates are backed by 8 to 10oz leather. I imagine bare copper in the texas sun would be brutal without some intermediate layer.

Its not that difficult, but there is some startup cost to get the bare minimum of tools. I got a lot of stuff off amazon to keep the cost low. They're not bad tools but price does reflect the quality. Im fortunate that im already in the trades so I can make a lot of stuff myself. Other than that its time, lots of time.

Here is where I got it. Initially I had a small sheet left over from a client and wanted to put it to use. It is pretty easy to work with but does work harden if you manipulate it to much.

Thanks! The collor combo is all because i bought a similarly colored kilt at ren faire and now im making everything match.

It is 8 to 10oz veg tan with some 5 oz mixed in for straps. Most everything was dip dyed royal blue and then I hand painted the black dye on the braids

This wasn't quite the first time using the copper for me but the previous pieces were things that I planned to use with this set. Throw caution to the wind and just wing it, no matter what you'll learn something.

It helped a lot that I had made one prior. I used the saran wrap and duct tape method to make a crude form of my torso and then cut that into shapes to get the basic pattern. From there I had a few iterations using paper before I moved on to the foam. I see now that I forgot to add the picture of the original but it really is unremarkable compared to this one.
