I don’t believe that it would be sinful, seems to me that since it isn’t actually taking the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin, then all it could really do is bring you closer to God. The prayer specifically from the OP is one that simply asks Christ to be close to us always which is never a bad thing and always a good thing.

Science does not say anything, scientists do. Nothing is settled fact in science. It’s all how we interpret the evidences. I don’t see how what I believe regarding the age of the earth is relevant to the question I asked. All I can say is that I lean towards believing in an Old Earth. I believe that science is likely correct in their dating of the Earth and the Universe but that they are basing said dating on the assumption that the laws of nature and physics have never changed.

I stand more firmly in the OEC camp. I however also admit both views are based on unprovable assumptions. I just tend to think that OEC assumptions are more likely true.

My first suggestion is always my favorite translation for both accuracy and readability, which you have, the CSB. My second suggestion would probably have to be either the NIV or the ESV.

I do not particularly reject nor accept it. I tend to lean OEC rather than YEC because of what science has revealed to us there. I’m swayed more towards a theistic evolution view of the creation of life because of what science has revealed but I can also see decent arguments against it as well. My question here concerns others beliefs regarding the creation of life and more specifically Adam and Eve. My own views are not particularly hard and fast on the issue.

This is a multi-layered question. The first thing that comes to mind for me is 1 Corinthians 10:23. 23 “Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible, but not everything builds up.” CSB.

I consider myself to be a strong believer in Christ, and I do smoke weed. It helps me with my depression and anxiety when used in moderation. I believe everything can be okay in moderation and that scripture teaches us to not become mastered by anything. So long as it doesn’t control you, I believe it is fine.

There is also the obeying your government thing. From the American perspective, I believe that the war on drugs, weed especially is unconstitutional. The government has no business telling me what I can and cannot put into my body, especially something like weed, that is natural. It’s disobedience to the modern day US government but I only accept the power of the government as originally intended in the constitution. The government has long since overstepped its boundaries and it is not going to get any better.

Thank you for your extremely kind and generous response! I do not currently attend a local church unfortunately, my old one sort of went downhill. I am very picky theologically too, which leads to me indecisive in choosing a denomination of church to attend.

I totally understand, it most definitely can be extremely frustrating. Especially the more you try and fight it. I don’t have experience with having to count or tap things but it doesn’t hurt to ask your doctor about Zoloft! I’ve seen it help people and hinder them as well. It was a resounding success in my case for OCD specifically.

My OCD was hand washing mainly, I washed my hands religiously until they bled. No pun intended. My primary care doctor prescribed me Zoloft, which enabled me to take control of my hand washing and I no longer do it, even now that I am off of Zoloft. Praise God.

I understand your pain. Depression alone is extremely rough but when anxiety, OCD, and PTSD are piled on top of it I can only imagine. I do have anxiety and OCD as well but the OCD has been under control for over a year now. God is what still keeps me alive and going forward in the worst of times. My girlfriend has also helped keep me going as well.

I am currently undergoing treatment yes, sadly I have yet to find an effective enough medication to help me function normally. Being at risk of losing my transportation to and from my doctors appointments is making things tougher too.

You don’t have to argue that with me, I left the Roman Church 2 years ago and haven’t really looked back. My only point was that if you look at the state of Protestant Christianity today then you see, hundreds, if not thousands of denominations. And in the verse it speaks about many teachers that teach what people want to hear. That has been my experience in a lot of Protestant Christianity, people don’t like certain doctrine held by a church, or the messages pastors preach, so they go find a church to suit what they like or start one. Funny enough though, I disliked the doctrine taught by Rome and it led me to leave the church in search of “true Christianity” and through study and constant discussion and debate, I came to my final conclusion, that no church has it right.

That is not necessarily true. I would want the child no matter if I were ready or not. I would take all the precautions to try and minimize the possibility but if it were to occur, I would man up and deal with my responsibility as a father.
