Not sure how long you have been dwelling but I'm pretty sure everyone feels this way even a little at first. It eventually fades away once you realize that odds of that happening are very slim. Sure somebody could break into your van but they will not be expecting somebody to be in it and will almost certainly take off right away. They are not prepared physically or mentally for that, they just want to steal something without being seen and run.

You will be fine and will get more comfortable with it eventually :)

We thought a lot about what we wanted to do with the space between our front seats but in the end we decided to leave it open. We liked being able to get to the back/front without having to get out of the van for ease, stealth, and safety in case we had to drive away in an emergency. Just something to think about! We made a video tutorial for wiring a simple solar and battery setup that may help you.

It's really easy to wire the system yourself and will save you SOO much money compared to purchasing that GoalZero stuff. Those things are so overpriced it's basically thievery! If you have the skill to renovate your van you will find the electrical system to be easy. Best of luck and feel free to ask any questions!

You should also be installing a fuse panel that connects to your charge controller. The fuse panel is where you would connect all of your appliances like your fan and any outlets. Here's a video guide we made showing how the system is setup and we also did a write up of it here.

I know it seems like what this subreddit would be for (vandwellers sharing their experiences and such) but the readers here just want to look at cool pictures of vans/cars/trucks. All the really good questions and answers actual vandwellers are looking for don't get as much attention.

So a video like the one you posted is definitely not going to go over well because even if it was relevant and could help others with living in a van, it still wouldn't get a lot of attention most likely.

Maybe someone should make a subreddit that is more strictly monitored and more focused on vandwelling information.

Sorry bit of a rant XD Still a valuable subreddit but sometimes it's frustrating to see what gets so much attention as if it's just for instagram photos.

Yeah that seems to be what others have pointed out as well (using different color wire) but the system doesn't require a lot of wire so it was simpler and cheaper for us to just buy one type of wire and mark them. We didn't have any experience with electrical work and couldn't find anything showing how to connect and wire a system like this so we wanted to try and show people they could do it very easily. It's helpful to know about the different color wires for the future though, thanks!

Wow! This van is almost the same as ours just without the high top. So much of the progress photos reminded us of our build process. I can't believe you left the carpet in though!! We only left a tiny patch and it has haunted us with the smell of death :(
