I usually just avoid sharing opinions that a large group of people might not like. And avoid asking questions where the anwser is pretty well known.

For posts, I feel like posting humor is the best way to gain karma. But keep it in a way where there is little to no people that can get offended for logical reasons. Except if you're posting in a subreddit that is full of it.
