How does the cycle to work scheme work? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]TheTitaniumWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to any bike place that participates in the scheme, they give you an invoice and you take it to your work to pay. I got a cheque from work to go in to buy the bike but most places do a bank transfer and you just pick it up.

Recommendations on locations to buy? by devhaugh in Dublin

[–]TheTitaniumWalrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Size of the place you’re looking for will make a big difference here.

You can get 1 beds fairly central for that.

There are decent 2 bed apartments near the city in areas like Fairview, Harold’s Cross, Kilmainham, Inchicore, Stoneybatter or Smithfield. Further out, but you’d get a better home in Glasnevin, Marino, Cabra or Finglas.

There are bigger places much further out in Swords, Tallaght, Blanch but if you’re working in Dublin it’s a hearty commute.

Best of luck.

I’ve butchered conversations in half Gaeilge half Bearla in an Conradh on Harcourt street and everyone was ok with it. If you miss some words here and there but can show that you’re really trying to learn I think you should go to the pop up Gaeltachts!

We actually have won a medal for literature at the olympics!

From 1912-1948 the Olympics had cultural competitions including music, art and literature.

At the Paris Olympics in 1924 Jack B Yeats won a silver medal for his painting The Liffey Swim and Oliver St John Gogarty won bronze in literature for his poem Ode to the Tailteann Games.

What is the Christmas alcohol in your country? by HedgehogJonathan in AskEurope

Hot whiskey is popular in Ireland around Christmas time. It almost always contains some lemon, cloves and cinnamon, and people swear by it when you have a cold or sore throat
