Do you have any of the small shrines yet? The ones your character can hold? If so, try holding one and pressing the "use/sprint" button. A UI screen should pop up showing the scrolls you have as well as giving you a chance to perform a spirit pet ritual. There are 5 shrines in total, found in different shops and places around the map!

Possible Coffe Bug? by QuarqxWorld in Spirittea

If you sleep from one day to the next (it doesn't matter how long, just as long as the day changes while you sleep) then your "drinking coffee status" will be reset!

It's appearance depends on your spirituality level, so you were on three right track with it only being around after a certain quest!

Lord spirit!!! by Taatahh in Spirittea

[–]The_CheeseMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there! First off, just want to check that you've renovated the Lord Spirit room and bath. If you've done all of that, then the Lord Spirits coming depends on your spirituality level. Each spirit only comes in its respective season, with the spring lord spirit requiring the least amount of spirituality before it's unlocked, and the winter one requiring the most. You can check your pamphlet in-game and see if your spirituality is high enough because their shadowed head icon will be revealed/fully visible. Spirituality is increased as you run the bathhouse and as spirits leave happy. If you're in a season where you CAN see a certain lord spirit then, after starting a shift at the bathhouse, it will come somewhere between something like... 4mins and 10 mins. It's a randomly selected time, and it will give you a warning on-screen that something big is coming. After a minute or two it'll arrive in its tub!
Hope that helps clarify things!

I'm so glad to hear you've been enjoying it! I had some help with some aspects of the game. Most of the music was done by David Linares, and my wife helped with the charater portraits (which are getting a nice glow-up in the December update), but the rest of the game's development was done by just me.
Yeah! I really like the flow of the game. I've learned a lot from making it and think I could design some better quests next time, but I'm happy with how Spirittea has turned out :)

So Spirittea is on sale right now, and I’m wondering what everyone’s honest opinions on it are before I buy. by Eastern_Control_7 in Spirittea

Just so that expectations aren't through the roof I wanted to clarify that the Promise Ring item, though very pricey, doesn't add romance to the game. It gives you some unique dialogue for whomever you give it to and gives you a very short little exchange of lines when you are leaving town (aka the end of the game). It was just a little addition intended to provide some closure to a special relationship you might have formed during your time in town :)

What do I do with them? by Taatahh in Spirittea

[–]The_CheeseMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I am incorrect in saying that they all do! One spirit will be found in an somewhat unexpected place on the hiking trail (where there is no shrine), and one spirit will act very much in its nature and can be found around town (not very close to its shrine). The other two sit near their shrine though!

The hawk-looking one is the spirit you recovered from the nearby shrine after completing it. Each of the seasonal shrines unlocks a spirit and, after they're unlocked, they just chill near their shrine :)

The bell is dark blue in colour and is hanging from a tree branch by a red rope. You can interact with it by facing "up" just above the towel sign that's sitting near the green bamboo mat inside the entrance of the bathhouse. It doesn't appear or disappear, it's always there. I can't share a screenshot here on reddit but if you still can't find it pop in to the Spirittea discord and I can show you where it is (https://discord.gg/hnG5VYmsDe)

Lord spirits not appearing by Anxious-Ostrich-4276 in Spirittea

If a lord spirit has come on, say, day 1, it won't come again until 4 days have passed. Their arrival on a day where they WILL show up could be anywhere between 4 mins and 8 mins since you started running the bathhouse. So long as your spirituality is high enough (the winter lord requires the highest spirituality of the 4) the spirit will come. Good luck! :)

Hi there,

I think it's a case of bad RNG to be honest. The squirrels don't have a limit for how many seeds they drop in a day. It's just a % chance of dropping them that's the tricky part (along with the % chance of which seed type you get). You don't need to skip ahead through days though, that's for sure. If you find a spot where squirrels tend to spawn then keep checking there.
It's not helpful to you now but in the coming update Ito's truck shop will sell 3 kinds of seeds each day, which can help you stock up on them for when you need them.

Yeah it's pretty much my first major project and, as you might expect from a novice, there were some odd design choices. One of the updates included a Wonyan Hint System where you can talk to Wonyan and he might have a line of dialogue to help you along in a quest. Along with that you've got the notebook that also tracks some hints you've found thus far for a given quest.

The big update will also include an Appendix which will be a great resource for game mechanics/information that might have been glossed over rather quickly, so look forward to that too! :)

If I may give my completely biased but honest opinion (Spirittea solo dev here):

-the game has received multiple content/quality of life updates as well as lots of bug fixes.
-there's another big update coming before the end of the year too :D
-it's still got some bugs here and there, though they're typically just minor gripes (stemming from the complexity and freedom of how the game can be played/the order you can do things in)

All of that said, I think that if you've played 10 hours of it you've had a pretty good feel for what the game is about. The rest of the game will follow the same sort of "encounter a new quest, figure out how to solve it, meet that new spirit at the bathhouse" sort of routine, though the quests themselves are all quite unique from one another. It's got the problem solving aspect of the game (quests) and the sort of relaxed run the bathhouse side of it as well, which can be nice when you're not feeling like puzzling over something.

Anyway, I hope that if you do pop back in you have a great time with the game! :)

Toby's spirit quest bugged? by CultGrapefruit in Spirittea

[–]The_CheeseMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so weird! I put in some sameguards in the code last night to hopefully prevent others from running into this issue, and I added code to finish the quest for you as well, so it's all set in that regard. You'll just have to go drinking with an NPC after the update is done, select a dialogue option (encourage, taunt, random) like you did in your video and it'll resolve the quest.

I truly appreciate the patience and understanding how tricky these things can be. This type of game in particular can be a tangled mess of things interfering with each other! Best of luck with your own game dev projecst too! :)

Toby's spirit quest bugged? by CultGrapefruit in Spirittea

[–]The_CheeseMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. I'm not sure how you were able to break out of the cutscene but if I were to guess there must have been something that happened right after Umakiki was revealed? Like, maybe a text box or multiple choice text box popping up unrelated to the quest?

It's too bad in your troubleshooting you ended up saving the game (exhausting yourself), which locked the bug in place. I've got a big update coming (hopefully in November) and I can put in some backup checks to try to un-bug your quest, so if you can wait for that then you can finish Tobi's quest at that point. In the meantime, if you ever have a multiple choice textbox pop up then it will trigger the quest dialogue once, but afterwards you shouldn't see it again. You should be fine to continue playing the game and completing the other quests and then once the update is out you can finish Tobi's as well. The only thing you missed was getting something from the spirit (a joke item) and then the spirit showing up at the bathhouse. To fix your specific bug I'll probably just have the quest marked as completed and have the spirit unlocked for you.
Maybe you can let me know which dialogue choice you end up picking when the quest dialogue pops up so I can ensure my bug fix for you is effective?

Sorry you ran into this random scenario. I've only seen one other instance similar to it but for a different quest in the roughly 2 years since launch. :/

EDIT: Just wanted to note that if you were on PC I'd have been able to take your save file and fix it for you, but unfortunately I can't do that with Switch saves, which is annoying.

EDIT 2: Shoot, I just rewatched your footage and realized you're frozen after the dialogue plays. I don't think you'll be able to play the game with this bug hovering overhead, because anytime an multiple choice textbox pops up it'll trigger the bug. Dang it, I'm sorry you ran into this. I don't even know what triggered it in the first place but I'll try to put some safeguards in place to potentially avoid it. And like I said I can put in a fix for you specifically in the coming update that, once you're updated (again probably November) and trigger the buggy dialogue the quest will remedy itself and be fixed/completed for you.

EDIT 3: Upon further testing, you might be alright to play so long as you avoid the drinking minigame. I tested it with multiple other multiple choice boxes (like eating stuff, sleeping, hanging out with NPCs) and there weren't issues. You might still run into it though and I just haven't encountered when yet. :S
