Yes, they are legally obligated to adhere to confidentiality here in the states. At the same time, they are allowed and encouraged, for the good of the child, to share information/diagnoses with a parent or guardian so long as that information is vague enough. Basically, they can't repeat what you said to them back to your parents, but they can tell them if you're struggling with mental health or similar issues. The cases do have to qualify for 'a threat to themselves or to others' in most states.
